Terminating a small vulnerable life is NOT "Reproductive healthcare", no matter what they say.
Related to the OP, I've learned more things relating to "Reproductive Healthcare" than I knew before... I've finally seen more of the complexities involved being discussed in the media I read/listen too (both secular and claiming Christian media) "Reproductive Healthcare" does in fact, encompass more than abortion. I didn't listen to this round table, and maybe that's (abortion) all they discussed. But I believe in the medical field "Reproductive Healthcare" is pretty vast and complex...including ethically gray areas that even Christians wrestle with (and have since who knows when and will continue to wrestle with...)
Grace, would you concur with this or does Reproductive Heathcare mean only one thing for you?

From what I read, in the movie, Monroe has several abortions and the babies are depicted as real human babies. Planned Parenthood is outraged saying that depicting a fetus as a baby is medically inaccurate !!

I think I've read about this film... so far mostly negative reviews; apparently the director/producers took great liberties with the actual bio of Monroe, twisting it severely out of shape. I don't know if they got the abortions part right or not... I believe I read elsewhere of credible rumors to that aspect of her life. What's fascinating is that I don't think the producers/directors etc are a Christian outfit...(the movie is based on book by Joyce Carol Oates - also not a Christian writer) So apparently they don't mind offending Planned Parenthood... maybe temp will now be willing to give Hollywood some credit sometimes... :D

I believe reproductive healthcare is many things, but abortion is NOT one of them. Reproductive healthcare can be infertility, health issues that pertain to a woman's reproductive organs, etc. However the round table was about access to abortion, under the terminology of "reproductive healthcare". Healthcare and abortion are NOT synonymous. They are two completely different things. However the Biden administration wants to soften the cold hard facts of the brutal taking of the life of the unborn by calling it "healthcare". What other avenue of "healthcare" is there that purposely takes the life of another human? Healthcare is about saving lives, not exterminating life.

Republicans want to introduce a bill that says abortions can be done up to 15 weeks with medical exceptions, when a baby has a beating heart and can feel pain. This would put the United States on par with most other developed Nations. Seventy two countries, including France and Germany, allow for abortions only up to 12 weeks. The Biden administration calls the Those restrictions EXTREME, whether in our country or other countries. The press secretary was asked up to what month does Biden believe a baby could be aborted. She would not answer the question. Biden has been known to say, a women should be able to abort their babies up until they go in labor And add to the evilness of this administration, they are also touting the lie that Republicans want a total ban on all abortion, in hopes that the people believe their lies.

They more than likely used the babies for a dramatic affect, not realizing they would offend Planned Parenthood.

Grace:

Right. Killing human life is the polar opposite of “health care.”

i’m convinced the world in all its exalted glory has the wherewithal to extract “abortion” from under the umbrella term, “health care,” without causing the phrase/health care insitutions to collapse.

The ability to distinguish life/death is not asking too much. It’s not too “nuanced”.
Grace:

i would not venture to guess.
JC Oates wrote with unconventional aims, was not a Christian, i don’t know an awful lot about her. i first read something by her in high school, i think, or maybe at college age. “Blonde” was written/published, i think, 1999-2000, before technology threw everything into partisan politics. i haven’t read the book, i don’t plan to see the movie.

a few years later, abortion as a formally stated political platform came along with obama+hillary’s statements, they drew that line in the sand. their candor was memorable. (i’m sure, calculated.)

we live with what the buzzards cast out upon us. (a lot of gov-protected+funded death.)

“Minimal”?
Dobbs doesn’t force liberal states to outlaw abortion. It just says that states can restrict abortion if they want to.

Places like California have gone out of their way to make more abortions happen. I haven’t followed NYS closely but I assume they’re doing similar.
Not only that but Governor Newsome of California has been putting up Billboards in 6 states that have banned abortions,
inviting women to CA for abortions and has even quoted a Scripture from Mark on the billboards!!

(I can't recall which passage, as i heard this on Christian radio while i was driving).
By the way, rumor has it he may be a candidate for the 2024 Presidential election.
I'm sure he will use his position on this as a way to get votes if that's true.
Valerie,
there were lots of complaints about Newsom’s blasphemous billboards, Catholics were not alone. example:

“ ‘Unconscionable’: California Gov. Newsom cites Jesus on billboards promoting abortion”
https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news ... g-abortion
When Gov. Gavin Newsom of California unveiled his plan for a billboard advertising campaign inviting women to travel to his state to have abortions, he was swiftly condemned by Catholics, who called the ads “unconscionable” and “blasphemy.”

Why the strong reaction? The abortion-selling ads include a passage from Scripture:

“Need an abortion? California is ready to help,” reads the message to be displayed along Indiana and Oklahoma highways.
In smaller lettering, the ads cite Jesus Christ’s words in the Gospel of Mark:

“Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these. -Mark 12:31” :(
This article suggests busy Newsom is abortion-billboard-happy.

Abortion has a cousin: Assisted suicide

Catholic League / GAVIN NEWSOM’S DEMONIC BEHAVIOR
https://www.catholicleague.org/gavin-ne ... -behavior/
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on California Gov. Gavin Newsom:
Any man who helps to kill his mother is capable of invoking the Bible to justify killing children.
That man is California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

On September 15, he tweeted, “To any woman seeking an abortion in these anti-freedom states: CA will defend your right to make decisions about your health.”

This was a master spin job. States that pass laws protecting the right of an unborn baby to enjoy the freedoms guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence, which includes the unalienable right to life, are labeled “anti-freedom.” Moreover, pregnant women who agree to abort their baby are, according to Newsom, making decisions about their own health, not decisions about the health of their baby.

Newsom didn’t settle for a tweet. On social media he showed pictures of billboards going up in Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Indiana, Ohio, South Carolina, and South Dakota. “Texas doesn’t own your body” is an example. A total of 18 pro-abortion billboards are being erected.

As vile as these billboards are, they are nothing compared to the ones slated for Mississippi and Oklahoma. Those billboards include a passage from Scripture: “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.” Mark 12:31

This is not in bad taste—it is demonic. To advertise in other states for women to come to California to have their children killed—in the name of God—is demonic.

This is not the first time Newsom has engaged in behavior that can properly be called evil.

In May, 2002, his mother decided to end her life via assisted suicide.
Newsom recalled, “She left me a message, because I was too busy. ‘Hope you’re well. Next Wednesday will be the last day for me.
Hope you can make it.’”

According to his sister, Hilary, who has a cassette of what was said, he was consumed with his own well-being, not his mother’s.
After he crossed his arms and jammed his hands into his armpits, he said, “I have P.T.S.D., and this is bringing it all back.”

It was all about himself.

Newsom explained his role in his mother’s death with aplomb. “The night before we gave her the drugs, I cooked her dinner, hard-boiled eggs, and she told me, ‘Get out of politics.’ She was worried about the stress on me.”

This account has been ignored by the media.
If anyone doubts the veracity of this macabre story, click here (see the bottom of p. 8). The New Yorker is hardly a right-wing source.

Ordinarily, it’s a nice gesture when a son cooks dinner for his ailing mother. But what kind of man cooks dinner for his mother before putting her down? The same kind of man who invokes the Bible to entice women from out of state to come to California to get rid of their unborn babies.

If these acts aren’t demonic, the word has no meaning.

temporal1,

We saw during COVID that hospitals got big government payouts for each COVID patient who died. Needless to say hospitals made sure ICUs killed half the people who went into them to get on ventilators - resulting in a big check from Medicare.

Make no mistake; this is how Medicare will be run in the future under liberal governments. A Democratic candidate for governor in Georgia already is saying we need abortions to deal with inflation, because if you kill your babies you won’t have to spend as much.

My opinion is the “hospitals made sure”. But it’s a hard fact that hospitals got paid extra for each person who died.

The hospitals were death camps. Ventilators killed people.

I don't think you can truthfully say, that most hospitals made sure ICUs killed half the people.
Also, were hospitals death camps, did ventilators kill people ?
Yes many who had COVID died in the hospital and yes many on ventilators died. We were in the middle of a pandemic that doctors were figuring out what worked best in the midst of a very stressful time and hospitals were full with patients to the point of overflowing and opening extra beds in tents etc.

I know enough about the health care system to say- it is far from perfect and I have many issues with how Medicare and Medicaid and thus insurances pay for or don't pay for everything. But I would say it is more out of ignorance and people making those decisions usually don't have a clue - they are just making crazy decisions. But to say they made sure people died to get paid, or falsified diagnosis to get paid I take exception to this. There are doctors and hospitals who have defrauded medicare/medicaid etc and some have gotten away with it but many finally are caught. There was so much going on throughout the nation that those who were committing fraud may eventually get caught but to say all did this or most - I'm sorry I disagree. I know the hospitals in our area had doctors fighting hard to save people, and the hospital where my brother in law works the same.

Our medical system has many many many flaws and is getting worse but I do not believe all the caregivers/doctors/nurses etc were making sure people died so the hospital could make money.
