EDWARD SNOWDEN

i’m not going to begin to suggest i understand this.
i’m interested in a remote, detached way.

To clarify, this topic is not pushing any particular narrative!
Discussion, opinions, are the hope. (i don’t believe any forum members are “insiders.”)
Googled reports should not be considered “the last word” on any topic.

i google. it’s easy. “any child” can google. i see what they’re selling. i’m with those who question+read beyond google.

Sept 26 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin on Monday granted Russian citizenship to former U.S. intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, nine years after he exposed the scale of secret surveillance operations by the National Security Agency (NSA).

Snowden, 39, fled the United States and was given asylum in Russia after leaking secret files in 2013 that revealed vast domestic and international surveillance operations carried out by the NSA, where he worked. ..

U.S. authorities have for years wanted him returned to the United States to face a criminal trial on espionage charges.

Snowden's name appeared without Kremlin comment in a Putin decree conferring citizenship on 72 foreign-born individuals.

Snowden later issued a message, essentially an updated version of a November 2020 tweet, saying he wanted his family to remain together and asking for privacy.

"After years of separation from our parents, my wife and I have no desire to be separated from our SONS," the tweet read. ..

i wonder who the other 71 new citizens are?

“MAN ON THE STREET” response:

TY SMITH / “Breaking News! Vladimir Putin grants full Russian citizenship to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden?!” / 19min

This video is not a “slick” commercial presentation. It’s one man’s opinion/questions.
i skip thru the first 3+min. He has trouble with soc media censoring him.

Ty Smith is one legal, law-abiding, tax-paying citizen, a husband+father, an associate minister of a Protestant church, a healthcare worker. i don’t know him, but he lives about an hour from me in the State of Chicago. he grew up in “the hoods” of Chicago and Decatur IL, he’s interested and dedicated to helping others do better, esp to walk away from violence, to realize better choices, esp in Jesus Christ. he describes the difficulty involved in walking away from the hood. lots of peer and family pressure.

It’s not easy. Often, it’s the people closest to us that hurt us. Scriptures warn.

He welcomes all to his Youtube channel, “all means all” including sinners and non-Christians.
He does not confuse embracing sin as part of his Christian faith. Without usng this phrase, i believe he’s among those who believe it’s important to “hate the sin, love the sinner.”

On SNOWDEN, i’m listening and not knowing what to think. Not from Reuters or Ty Smith.
Or any voice on this forum. Altho, with years of reading here, i admit to respecting some quite a lot.

This meme was created following a leak of documents by ex-National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden,
which exposed the NSA’s secret surveillance program targeting phone calls and the internet.

Mr. Obama’s real-life response: “There is no spying on Americans,” he said in 2013.

I wish Mr. Snowden the best, if Russian citizenship is good for him, I'm happy for him. I tend to regard him and Chelsey Manning as heroic truth tellers, their estrangement is testament to the ephemeral, convoluted nature of the powers that be. We need them to be cast out for the stability of the empire.

Thanks.
Chelsea Manning is another name, a person with unique (politicized) protections built-in that have nothing to do with espionage.

Julian Assange, Australian, is another name.

Edward Snowden

If i understand, Snowden, now as a Russian citizen, is not bound to exist in Russia? Reports are, many Russian men are leaving.
Many non-COs might believe serving in a military would beat years of solitary confinement? (More questions.)

Ty Smith brings up valid questions about potential assassinations. Which can occur in any country. They can occur in prisons.
C Manning probably has unique “diplomatic immunity” because of the supportive powerful cabal involved that presently eclipses all earthly powers.

This is all other-worldly to me. 🌏

Russia is currently conscripting men up to nearly 60 years of age and sending them to the front without training or equipment.

How many years ago and how many wars ago was the last American draft?

Do you see any issue with referring to Mr Manning by his female name?

It casts aspersions on he/she being a “heroic truth teller” when he can’t tell the truth about which sex he is.
