Is "more free" better? Doesn't "more free" mean more lies and more hate speech?
Should we regulate speech more here to make it better? ;)
If Mennonet became a target for the purveyors of porn, fraud, and racist/misogynist hate-group propaganda would you see that as an improvement because it is "more free?"

Or would you see that as a problem?

Josh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 6:09 pm Twitter has a big problem. They claimed in an earlier financial filing that only 5% of accounts are fake (it is obvious the real number is a lot higher than that). If they actually have a lot fewer real users than they claimed, they have a problem with their advertisers - and a problem that they engage in financial misrepresentation when Musk placed his bid to buy them.

I would foresee Twitter's stock getting pounded into the ground and the company getting bought in a fire sale. Musk will come out a clear winner in this as his own stock shoots back up and Twitter's continues to plummet.
These questions have been ongoing for some weeks. (i’m not aware of a final decision.)
No one can negotiate a lower purchase price AFTER closing the transaction. Sellers often negotiate down to secure the sale.

Too early to know.
imho, it’s still too early to know. a new wrinkle:

I see the presumptive new owner of Twitter has given a little more insight into his views on freedoms and rule of law.

Wow, besides posters being snippy at times, you deal with far more than we are aware of.

Thanks for your diligent work.

I don't wear camo. :P

I get between 100 and 200 emails a day just sent to the admin(madmin). I got some filters that will delete most of them, but still have to scan through 20-40 a day to make sure it is not a real issue.

We get upwards to 5 or so a day spam accounts that post in the Intro thread that requires Mod approval for anyone else to see. I also have to clear out hundreds of accounts that register but never post because their AI is not smart enough to post not he first filter thread. I do this about once a month.

In my experience, nearly all of this spam traffic comes from Russia or Ukraine (a mixture of both and frankly there isn't much difference). Some people I know simply block all traffic from that part of the world, but now they've gotten craftier about using things like hosted servers or VPNs to get around that.

PARLER

“Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, to acquire Parler platform”
https://www.prnewswire.com/news-release ... 50579.html
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Parlement Technologies announced today that it has entered into an agreement in principle to sell Parler, the world's pioneering uncancelable free speech platform, to Ye (formerly known as Kanye West). Ye has become the richest Black man in history through music and apparel and is taking a bold stance against his recent censorship from Big Tech, using his far-reaching talents to further lead the fight to create a truly non-cancelable environment.

"In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves," says Ye.

The proposed acquisition will assure Parler a future role in creating an uncancelable ecosystem where all voices are welcome. Ye can be found on Parler here.

Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer welcomes Ye as a compatriot in the fight for free speech. "This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech. Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again. Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals."

Under the terms of their agreement in principle, the parties intend to enter into a definitive purchase agreement and expect to close during the fourth quarter of 2022. The terms of the proposed transaction would include ongoing technical support from Parlement and the use of private cloud services via Parlement's private cloud and data center infrastructure .. ..
