There's a place out in Vegas that's got an M60 they let people fire. And a place in MN that apparently at least used to have a tank with a fully functional main cannon if they don't still have it.
I'm well aware it's a difficult process to get the licenses and permits to own a fully functional tank and cannon, but obviously it is possible.
On the page that I linked to the first paragraph says:
Have you ever wanted to drive and shoot real WWII tanks? Now you can and only at Ox Ranch! Drivetanks.com is the first and only company in history to allow civilians to drive and shoot authentic WWII tanks.
On the for-sale section of their web site they only have tanks with disabled main guns. Why is that? Because it is illegal to buy and sell fully functional tanks in the US: https://www.drivetanks.com/own-one/
When they disable a main gun they fill the barrel with concrete and remove the critical hardware such as triggers, breech components, and fire control hardware. So the only way to re-militarize it would be to actually replace the main gun.
Oh, and that place in MN you were talking about? You can drive tanks there, crush cars, etc. And you can fire their machine guns. But you cannot fire their tank guns.: https://www.driveatank.com/ Whether their tanks have disabled main guns or not they don't say. But you can't actually fire one at any price.

How are the Indiana State Police supposed to catch a terrorist who flies into Chicago or crosses the border in Michigan, acquires weapons, and then heads to Indiana to blow up a public building or shoot an airliner out of the sky?
Same way as if one came in or out to Canada.

If we did away with the FBI and other Federal police agencies, they would just need to be replicated by 50 different states
They are already replicated in the 50 states.

Really?
What kind of border control agency do you have in Indiana? How do the Indiana State Police know who is entering and leaving the state?

They apparently haven't figured out yet that Robert has left the state, so maybe they aren't all that competent.

So they say they are the place civilians can drive and shoot authentic WWII tanks and you promptly claim they are the only place a civilians can shoot any kind of tank.

You might remember that I said I don't know if they still have any tanks with functional main guns. But perhaps, since you are so knowledgeable on the subject, you can explain why, on their FAQ page, they have this little nugget:
CAN I SHOOT THE MAIN GUN ON THE TANK/ARMORED VEHICLE?
Yes you can! We offer two options when it comes to shooting tanks. The first is our Sherman Gunnery package where you have the exciting opportunity to engage other tanks in battle. Our second option is the most powerful gun available to the public with our L7 105mm that is still in service today.
How do you know you can't fire their tank guns at any price?
What kind of border control agency do you have in Indiana? How do the Indiana State Police know who is entering and leaving the state?
So you are saying we have some kind of border control now and the US government knows when I go from state to state?
I am saying that if terrorist suspects, people on terrorist watch lists, suspected drug cartel members, and so forth, enter the US and travel state-to-state that the FBI likely knows about it. They might share that sort of information with state and local authorities. But if you take away the FBI as you suggest then all of that capacity to track criminals across state boundaries vanishes. State and local police are not generally equipped to deal with multi-state and international organized crime networks and terror networks. At least not on their own. That is why we have an FBI and other Federal agencies.
Here in Washington, for example, the FBI and DEA recently busted and arrested members of the Mexican Sinaloa cartel in eastern Washington who were smuggling large quantities of meth, cocaine, and heroin into eastern Washington. And they broke up an even larger smuggling ring by the Mexican Jalisco cartel in western Washington. bringing large quantities of meth, fentanyl, and heroin into that part of the state. And who were engaged in human smuggling and sex trafficking. Local law enforcement is not equipped to investigate and track these sorts of international criminal cartels across state and international boundaries. For example, they don't have the authority, resources, or expertise either to do things like international wiretapping and tracking international funds transfers. Or even track the movement of people and contraband across state and international boundaries.

Local farmer apparently used his wife’s Chinese connections to do business with a Chinese Cartel. The news reported that they smuggled Chinese into the US via Mexico, used them to work in Chinese restaurants and the marijuana farms. Used the restaurants to launder the money.
Said that they produced more marijuana that Oregon uses in a year. It was supplying New York. People from church did some business with them and were paid in cash.

You may want to reread my posts. I never suggested this. I just said I feel states already have organizations that do this. I do not see the need for so much centralized power. I never said there should be NO centralized power. I just think it needs to be limited as per the agreement of the constitution. If we want something else, then we need to amend the constitution.

I dunno. The FBI and other similar agencies fall pretty squarely under Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution. Both to provide for the common defense, and to the extent that they are tracking crime across state borders, regulation of interstate and international commerce. Nearly all crime involves commerce, just illegal commerce.
