That said, talking to ANYONE can HELP with people's problems, but to CURE them requires Christ. At least the "mental" problems. Cure is rare as hen's teeth in Psychiatry. Often the drugs used in "Treatment" can be more destructive to the body of the person being "treated" than heroin or cocaine or alcohol.
I can agree there is substantial risk behind the psychiatry/psychology approach... I took enough psychology classes to see its all a bunch of nonsense. That being said... how do you reach the perfection of Christ? Obviously there are people who obsessively read the Bible, and pray for hours because of a misunderstanding perhaps of grace but what can they do to change that view when they logically can say they know they are not saved by these things but don't feel good enough while still having the same issues to begin with of OCD?

I can't just tell this person he needs Christ as that would be meaningless to him as he already feels like he can't reach Christ otherwise why would he not feel good enough?

That's absolutely true. He needs care. He needs the Christ in you. He needs to understand we are ALL unworthy of life, but it is his GRACE and MERCY which has paid our debt.

I do not know this person, so I do not know what his individual needs are, but I think lovingkindness and real love and understanding. He certainly doesn't need a therapist to follow current guidelines and encourage him to "transition". He just needs to understand that his imperfection is not unique, and that everybody has been tried by their flesh.

And I still say that prayer and fasting with an unquenched Spirit (not the person with the problem, but those ministering to him) is an integral part of this. The more fasting and praying with that Spirit, the better for the object of the prayers.

self sacrifice extends to sharing a meal, offering a ride but if you ask someone to fast with you or for someone... In my experience with Mennonites if they fast at all for the fallen its not on any official level or discussed. It deeply bothers me that we can excommunicate someone and years go by with nothing other then the ministry occasionally asking them if they are ready to repent. Sure maybe years after the fact is too late but when one falls we should be fasting and gathering to pray for them.

Outsider,
thank you for your thoughtful responses and reading suggestions.

Soloist,
thanks for adding your thoughts, i’ve been wondering.

Rachel Levine is a poster boy for being wary of pediatricians, healthcare providers, psychiatry; not just the odd quacks that could cause chaos, but now formally, and by force of the sword. It’s unnerving.

“Rachel Levine's claim all agree on 'gender-affirming care' is slammed by doctors 'in hiding' “
“Several medical professionals tell Fox News their colleagues are afraid to 'challenge this narrative' on gender”

Some rambling thoughts.
Hemingway has a story about a young Christian who castrates himself (for to avoid his sexual temptations, and the doctors didn't want to do it for him). I found it gross and unrealistic, but obviously it happens. It's the American hands-on mentality, I suppose. Europeans are better in accepting their fate.
For example, I was very impressed by T.S.Eliot's "Cocktail Party" where the therapist solves a marital dissonance by telling the husband that he is unable to love and telling the wife that she is unable to be loved and they both should learn to live with these handicaps. (I know that Eliot was an American by birth and that his own marital life was catastrophical.)

As for reassignment surgery, I am basically for it. It is an invention like aircraft. Not necessary, but sometimes helpful for the pursuit of a goal. Only if you recommend reassignment surgery to someone nowadays, you have to add that he is a guinea pig (like an aircraft passenger in 1910) and may be a victim on the long road to progress.
I don't see that all this has anything to do with sin or hell.

"Gross and unrealistic"? Gross, maybe. But castration actually achieves the goal it's supposed to achieve- the removal of sexual desire.
As for reassignment surgery, I am basically for it.
And this isn't "gross and unrealistic"? There's no such thing as "reassignment". There's "top surgery" which is a cosmetic procedure to make the person LOOK like the opposite sex- they still have their sex organs.

Then there's "bottom" surgery which is rarer, and for good reason!

Here's a series of tweets from a victim of "reassignment surgery" giving his own testimony about it's "effectiveness in treating gender dysphoria".

@TullipR
I want to tell everyone what they took from us, what irreversible really means, and what that reality looks like for us.

No one told me any of what I’m going to tell you now.

I have no sensation in my crotch region at all.

You could stab me with a knife and I wouldn't know. The entire area is numb, like it's shell shocked and unable to comprehend what happened, even 4 years on.

No one told me that the base area of your penis is left, it can't be removed - meaning you're left with a literal stump inside that twitches.

When you take Testosterone and your libido returns, you wake up with morning wood, without the tree.

I wish this was a joke

And thats something that will never come back and one of the reason why i got surgery.

My sex drive died about 6 months on HRT and at the time I was glad to be rid of it, but now 10 years later, Im realising what im missing out on and what I won't get back.

Because even if i had a sex drive, my neo vagina is so narrow and small, i wouldn't even be able to have sex if i wanted too.

And when I do use a small dilator, I have random pockets of sensation that only seem to pick up pain, rather than pleasure.

Any pleasure I do get comes from the Prostate that was moved forward and wrapped in glands from the penis, meaning anal sex isnt possible and can risk further damage.

Then theres the dreams. I dream often, that I have both sets of genitals, in the dream I'm distressed I have both, why both I think? I tell myself to wake up because I know its just a dream.

And I awaken into a living nightmare.

In those moments of amnesia as I would wake, I would reach down to my crotch area expecting something that was there for 3 decades, and it's not.

My heart skips a beat, every single damn time.

Then theres the act of going to the toilet. It takes me about 10 minutes to empty my bladder, it's extremely slow, painful and because it dribbles no matter how much i relax, it will then just go all over that entire area, leaving me soaken.

So after cleaning myself up, I will find moments later that my underwear is wet - no matter how much I wiped, it slowly drips out for the best part of an hour.

I never knew at 35 I ran the risk like smelling like piss everywhere I went.

Now i get to the point where im detransitioned and the realisation that this is permanent is catching up with me.

During transition, I was obsessive and deeply unwell, I cannot believe they were allowed to do this to me, even after all the red flags.

I wasn't even asked if I wanted to freeze sperm or want kids. In my obsessive, deeply unwell state they just nodded along and didnt tell me the realities, what life would be like.

And finally, theres dilation, which is like some sort of demonic ceremony where you impale yourself for 20 agonising minutes to remind you of your own stupidity.

This isn't even the half of it. And this isn't regret either, this is grief and anger.

F*** everyone who let this happen.
I haven't deleted anything btw. Thread got mass reported.

That poor man is already in hell. And the people who did it to him are certainly going to find their way there. If you don't see that, you either aren't a Christian, or you are a member of any of the numerous apostate sects which are truly more like Theosophists/Universalists/Pantheists (like the Quaker General Conference has become) who believe that every doorway leads to heaven.

It ain't so. There's only one door.
