For myself, i see no reason for gov schools to not have armed security - to match courthouses, airports, Congress, etc.
Some churches!!

Why would gov schools be the EXCEPTION to armed security?
Once schoolgrounds are left, LOCAL POLICE are on the spot in every community, large or small.

Why should gov schools supply the “fish in the barrel” these deranged COWARDS love??
The COWARDS that “dress up” for their dramatic roles of shooting fish in a barrel.

Even young children understand the cowardice of shooting fish in a barrel. Does not require literacy.

Divisive politics is killing children.
Every school I have ever worked at (high schools) do have armed security. In both TX and WA. And most elementary schools are on the patrol routes for local police where they pass through frequently. In other words they have rotating armed security. At the school in Uvalde the shooter reportedly walked past armed school security officers before entering a classroom through an exterior classroom door.

How many hundreds of billions or trillions of dollars are you willing to spend to rebuild half the schools in the country in order to lock them down? There are tens of thousands of schools that by their very architecture are not secure and many have dozens of portable classrooms because they can't pass bond measures to expand and build new schools. Here are the aerial views of two schools in my area. The first is a HS and I count 21 portable classroom buildings, each with two classrooms, all of which have exterior doors like the one in Uvalde. So 42 exterior classroom doors to secure in addition to all the doors around the main building which have to remain unlocked for students to pass between. And the second is a nearby suburban elementary school where I count 14 separate portable classroom buildings so 28 separate exterior doors in addition to all the additional exterior doors on the two main buildings (old and new) that remain unlocked so students can pass between for lunch, recess, PE, library, etc. There is no way to turn either of these schools into hardened and armored camps without completely rebuilding them from the ground up. The school I work at was built in the 1970s and the majority of classroom doors open directly to the outside. Most of the tens of thousands of schools across the country have similar issues. And the districts lack the funds to do anything about it.

Maybe the problem isn't the schools, but the fact that guns are so freely available and unregulated in our society compared to just about any other civilized nation.

And here is the satellite view of Robb Elementary in Uvalde TX where the most recent shooting happened. It is 10 separate buildings all of them with exterior classroom doors and the school is accessible to surrounding streets on all sides. They would have to bulldoze this school and build a brand new one to make it secure with a single entrance through which students pass by security with metal detectors, etc. like a courtroom.

And finally, the notion that locking doors is going to slow down a shooter carrying an AR-15 is absurd. It is a trivial exercise for someone armed in that way to shoot out a locked door and kick it in.

Maybe instead of bulldozing, they could have Trump build a 30’ high wall around the whole property with a couple entrances and guard towers every 40 feet or so. And have Mexico pay for it.

Are they also going to search all the kids cars when they come and go from the parking lots all day long? At the school I teach at we have kids constantly coming and going all day long.
  • Kids who are splitting time between the local tech magnet school and the regular high school so they can take tech classes
  • Kids who are splitting time between the local community college and regular HS in the running start program
  • Kids who are homeschooled but come to campus for specific classes (usually music, science, or athletics)
  • Kids who are in internship programs and working off campus part time and attending classes part time.
  • Parents who are coming and going to pick kids up for appointments or drop them back off
  • Teachers who teach and multiple schools and commute between them during the day.
  • Administrators who are always coming and going for various reasons
That is a LOT of cars to rip apart and inspect on a daily basis to make sure none of them have any weapons hidden inside. And that is just during the school day. There are hundreds of student and staff cars arriving every morning before school that would also need to be torn apart and inspected.

I know you were joking. But I get annoyed by fools like Ben Shapiro who think there are easy ways to secure and fortify schools as an alternative to controlling firearms. There aren't.

Should raise the age to buy weapons from 18 to 21. That would give students a couple years out of school to let go of their school problems.
Or just stop school at grade 8. I don’t see Amish students going on these rampages.

Szdfan, you don't think that's sacrilegious, making Jesus look stupid and incompetent?

This is a joke thread where everything should be taken very lightly. Feel free to question about this elsewhere.

No. The original art that the meme is based on, however, is rather terrible.

I disagree. Up the age to buy weapons to 25.

Not sure this can be done without modifying the constitution. Alcohol age limit has been raised, but that is a state issue and consumption of alcohol is not guaranteed in the Constitution.

I actually think it may not be a bad idea, just sharing the struggles of doing so.
