“Awake, Not Woke”
A Christian Response to the Cult of Progressive Ideology
By Noelle Mering
https://www.chirpbooks.com/audiobooks/a ... lle-mering
The long-simmering crisis that grips our culture has exploded in recent years, leaving us divided and intransigent. Discourse seems futile when we are no longer a people with shared principles or even a shared understanding of reality. What seems obvious to one person is patently absurd to the next.

This collapse of meaning is not accidental.
It has been plotted and documented for decades, and now presents in its current form as Woke ideology.

Awake, Not Woke unmasks this ideology by examining its history, major players, premises, and tactics, showing us that “Wokeness” at its core is an ideology of rupture. Indeed, it is an ideology with fundamentalist and even cult-like characteristics that is on a collision course with Christianity.

With a wit and clarity, Noelle Mering provides answers to such questions as:
Why does tolerance seem to only go in one direction?
How does the ideology create enemies, eroding friendship across the sexes and races?
Why is violence the natural end of Woke ideology?
Why have politics become all-absorbing?
Why is the corruption of children a logical outgrowth of Woke principles?
How is the movement fundamentally a rejection of the Logos?

The architects of revolution have long known that the transformation of the West had to come by way of destabilizing the social, familial, and religious pieties of a citizenry.

But there is a road to restoration, and it begins with identifying and understanding the operating principles of the Woke movement. While the revolution is a counterfeit religion resulting in alienation and division, the One True Faith brings restoration.

It is this restoration – of the person, the family, and the Faith – for which we all hunger and is the most fitting avenue toward a more harmonious and whole society.

(i have not purchased anything from chirp audiobooks.)

a short spoken sample is in the link.
the sample speaks a bit of covetousness, which i think currently is a badly overlooked problem (sin).

St Paul Center / How to Combat the Woke Culture - Awake Not Woke *FULL INTERVIEW* w/ Dr. Scott Hahn and Noelle Mering

Franciscan University of Steubenville / A Christian Response to Wokeness (FULL VIDEO) | Noelle Mering | Leadership Institute
These are excellent videos, which I've already watched before.

I would recommend them to anyone interested in this topic.

Scott Hahn has always been one of my favorites to listen to on EWTN.

At the moment, I'm reading a book called Politicizing the Bible; the Roots of Historical Criticism and the Secularization of Scripture co-authored by Scott Hahn and Benjamin Wiker.

This is a dense read, about 600 pages! It's so dense I've had to give it a break a few times already, but it's good and I intend to read it all. ;)

A badly needed critique of Biblical Criticism! (Probably the foundation of what the Church calls "modernism.")

It's things like this (including the knowledge expressed in the above videos) that gives me hope the Church might just awaken from its slumber in time to turn the ship around!

How do you like my new signature? 8-)

i thought of you while viewing, somehow, i thought you might know of these, wondering if they’ve been posted before??
Scott Hahn has a nice speaking voice and approach, Noelle M. is interesting, and mother of 6! i’m such an underachiever. :P
They made me want to go back to school. (grandparents should flood schools, as students.) They’re needed! They would bring balance.

Great signature line.

In this video, Aaron Sibarium discusses the ways in which Woke ideologues are taking over law schools, and what can be done about it.

This is really what it's all about: when Antonio Gramsci said, "we must re-evaluate what it means to rule," this is exactly what he meant. He was telling his acolytes to become teachers, to get into administrative positions, to create bureaucracies and NGOs. Administrative positions, bureaucracies and NGOs are all ways to effect government policy.

Aaron Sibarium says if we want public educational institutions not to be platforms for Woke ideologies then we need to become teachers and administrative officials ourselves within these institutions. He stresses the importance of administrative positions, and that teaching positions aren't enough.

Presumably such a strategy might not appeal to some Mennonites with a "two kingdom" theology.

He doesn't really address what we can do about bureaucracies and NGOs specifically. Most Christians I assume do not relish these things with the religious fervor of Gramsciite activists.

Using the term “woke” is like using the term “Nazi”. It automatically discredits your argument.

What do you even mean by the term “woke?” Do you even have any idea? Best as I can figure it vaguely refers to anything related to what used to be called “politically correct” except that conservatives now prefer the term because it evokes urban slang and therefore has racist undertones.

Awake is an ancient symbol for "conscious awareness," used in the Bible, too. Yes, I suppose "woke" is closely related to "politically correct" and a neo-marxist obsession with control of language is essential to both.

The terms keep changing but we do our best to keep up.

"Woke" has no racist undertones, at least not in the intention of this user.

"Woke" also denotes an "awareness" especially of the systemic and institutional oppression of minorities based in neo-marxist critical analysis, but at least to my mind, it also refers to a specific kind of "consciousness."
They are trying to realize "freedom" and "truth" through various forms of revolution, and to my mind, this belief is the source of the religious fervor they exhibit.

(Neomarxists themselves descibe their own criticism as revolutionary.)

It’s comical for one to troll your use of “woke” with the now meaning-less word “racist.”
Predictable. Comical, nonetheless.

Esp immediately following the 3 thought-filled videos immediately above (i haven’t viewed the third, thanks for summary).

In my view, the most important of the U.S. population are those who refuse to jump on ORGANIZED POLITICAL BANDWAGONS.
The beautiful politically UNorganized majority.

The critically diverse politically UNorganized are the life-blood of the still-young gov experiment we know as the U.S.
It definitely includes Christians. Not limited to Christians. Christians make an easy target. Maybe the easiest.

Organizers cannot stand the UNorganized.
They work tirelessly to organize them. If unable to recruit, they “organize” and label (in effect, enemies).
They refuse any concept of neutral. Friend or Foe. Whether fact or not. Facts do not matter to political ideologues.

Typical. Water off a duck's back. :D

It's about an hour long, but worth watching, at least imo. Since it's not a short video I expect only those with a serious interest would even bother.
