Leading with excommunication and shunning as the first response (the story upstream) probably isn't it.
It's better than doing nothing, because it protects the congregation from the sin.
Since everyone is a sinner, won't that approach quickly reduce every congregation down to zero?
I believe Jesus died to set us free from sin so we can live in victory without sin.

A church shouldn’t be full of perverts indulging their sick fantasies.

I know someone who is at Pure Life right now. It’s not a Mennonite founded or run place, but it seems to be pretty popular.

I've been pondering this thread the past few days. I just don't know how to feel about programs like this. I hope it works out for my wife's friend.

What I do know is that people with that kind of addictions are desperately in need of biblical help and learning accountability. Over and over I've heard someone with that kind of record make comments that show he is rationalizing his sin/crime. And pastors don't seem to take the issue seriously.

I've seen it preached on super hard... or not at all. To that end, I think some men feel that unless they actually touch someone or act upon it, they are not doing anything wrong.

Jesus was pretty clear on the subject.

Perhaps they need to be more acquainted with church teachings for the last 2,000 years. "Lust" is considered a deadly sin.

I personally have went through the residential program, and God met me in a very powerful way. It doesn’t mean that I don’t struggle anymore with sexual temptation, but he is given me power to overcome that and turn to him in the struggle and receive his forgiveness when I fail and to worship him with my body pure life is a ministry that promotes Jesus and finding true relationship with him is the only way to freedom no matter what your struggle was I think Mennonites in general or Christian believers tend to think that we should be above such things as sexual immorality, but we have to remember that we are human and we still have that flesh nature within us and it’s only by a relationship with Jesus that he gives us power to overcome that flesh and to walk in his spirit through prayer, communion meditation on his word and that’s exactly what Pure Life ministry promotes. It is a fight in this world caters to all kinds of immorality and it’s only gonna get worse but the way out is Jesus he is the only one that can set anyone free from any kind of addiction most times when we are turning into things of this world such as sex drugs, money, fame, prosperity acceptance, identity love all these things were creative for good, but when we try to find fulfillment out of these things instead of finding fulfillment in Jesus, and in his law for us, we make these things an idol in our hearts, and those idols will destroy us the only true satisfaction we can find us in Jesus and then his love for us

If you are a man, you’re gonna struggle with sexual temptation that’s reality if you were constantly giving into that and crossing those boundaries, I will definitely recommend Pure Life ministries. If you’re married this will be a good time to break away to give your wife some space as hard as it may be an as tough as it may be pure life ministries offers a very low rate for their program, considering the luxuries that are there and think that this way, this is a time where you can spend nine months away from the chaotic life that you’re living the rushed atmosphere and you get to take a break and relax, and just focus on the real things that matter which is relationship with Jesus to get away from the world and the influences that it has on you and just focus solely on coming to Christ. I highly recommend Pure Life ministries and no, they are not perfect but they worship God who is perfect and they constantly point you to him. They are not there for themselves. They are there because God has called them, and because God has called them they can point you directly to the source that will set you free. God bless.

One more thing I will add is that repentance is the way to life if you want to live die if you want to go up go down if you want to succeed fail if you want to increase decrease the more need you have the more God is attracted to you. There was no possible way that any human can live up to the law that God has placed over us the only way we can have true relationship with God is by humbling ourselves, repenting of our sins and coming to him and brokenness, and truly seeing Jesus as the only way to victory too often as humans like fast things we want to be fixed now we want to be free now we want to have our food now. Spiritual growth is not this way. It takes time. It takes effort and it’s a fight but there’s one who is strong that’s on our side and if we just humbly except that we can’t do it by ourselves, and we need Jesus to cover us with his blood and to give us strength to fight against the pose of the world he is so ready to reach his hand down and to love us .Repent for the kingdom of heaven is soon here.
