You forgot 'Half Nuts'. Wife says that is what I am and I likely won't change much.
I like putting peanuts in a glass of Coca Cola. See, she was right.
That's something you'll see on a "You know you're from ___________ if you..." Facebook page from the South.
I never did, that I can recall, but it was a fad.
Pecans are easily my favorite. Our property growing up had loads of trees, mostly seedlings, and we'd sell them by the sackful, to local pecan companies.

Interesting that you opted for the term filbert instead of hazelnut.
We grew up around filbert orchards in Oregon. In fact my childhood home was built on a former filbert orchard and there were still two old filbert trees in our back yard. According to this site they say that 99% of the nation's filberts are grown in the Willamette Valley: https://oregonfresh.net/education/orego ... -industry/ Also filberts are the state nut of Oregon and Oregon is the only state to actually have a "state nut"
I've heard it said that farmers grow "filberts" and sell "hazelnuts".
The former is what they actually call them. The later is how they are marketed these days.
We had an old hand-crank filbert cracking machine growing up and my dad used to roast them on the stove with salt and butter. Good eating! But I haven't had them for ages. These days I usually get bags of pistachios at Costco for my nut fix.
Right. I would have expected to see ‘filbert’ from an Oregonian. But outside the state, people don’t grow them much, and are mostly exposed to ‘hazelnuts’ and they have to ask what a filbert is.

my father used “filbert,” often adding it if he heard “hazelnut.”
as a child, i favored ICE CUBE chocolate candies, RARE treats, thinking this was an especially tasy chocolate, not realizing hazelnuts made the difference! only as an adult visiting Switzerland where chocolates are sold on every corner, did i realize: hazelnuts!
