I was suspicious that they were suspended until things blew over, given a slap on the the wrist and were back at work in the organization.
I'm not aware of any follow up statement.

I also wondered whether they would continue to work for CAM after some time elapsed, but from what I understand, that never happened. Their status was in review for quite awhile, but last year a decision was made that they will not be returning to work for CAM.

Let me ask for more clarification here. You said “their status was in review for quite awhile.” Does that mean that someone in CAM was actively reviewing their actions regarding Jeriah (i.e. there was an internal investigation)?

You also said that “last year a decision was made.” Who made the decision? Does this mean that the CAM board decide to fire them at this point? Or that they voluntarily decided (or were convinced to voluntarily decide) to not return?

So my understanding at this point would be: Paul and Eli Weaver were put on paid leave from June 2019 to until sometime in 2021. During this time they weren’t doing work for CAM apart from some minor help in transitioning. Would that be accurate?

Do a search for the form 990 for CAM, it is widely available on the internet. The JM case blew up in the middle of 2019. For that year while Paul Weaver and Eli Weaver were on leave they were still highly paid. Paul Weaver was paid 94,476 in 2019 and Eli Weaver was paid 79,851 in 2019. In 2018 Paul Weaver made 84,246 and Eli Weaver 76,229. So they both actually got raises in 2019 while CAM was making it appear as they were being disciplined. These are facts reported to the IRS and open to the public. CAM is good at misleading their donors in their public statements, this is why an independent investigation needs to be done by a completely outside organization.

The Form 990 would appear to corroborate the statement that they were placed on administrative leave part-way through 2019. CAM said in July that these two men were being placed on administrative leave. As a general rule, an employee continues to receive regular pay and benefits while on administrative leave. How was this misleading?

BTW, an annual salary of $95k for a Vice President position of an organization the size of CAM is not what I would call "highly paid."

Administrative leave also implies that there’s some process playing out. If you continue to pay someone on “administrative leave” their regular salary indefinitely, at what point does it become an improper no-work job? Hence my questions above:

How long does it take to do an internal review of an employee's actions? How long *should* it take?

Does this look like severe consequences to you that CAM said were happening? Does this look like an organization looking at the gravity of the situation as promised? CAM was waiting for this to hopefully just go away so that business as usual could continue.

This is how one businessman and supporter of CAM described the JM rapes to me recently in a private email, " I don't know if you received CAM's Annual Report but I see donors are satisfied with their working through issues they had with an worker or two. It's unfortunate but sometimes it takes a problem like this to make improvements and develop a plan. Cash donations were up substantially and they well more than doubled the number of Bibles distributed from the year before."

This is a reflection of CAM, downplaying rape as just an issue they had with a worker. And I guess if donations are up, then who really cares what happened? Such a sad testimony of the CA community.

It should be quick but thorough. Investigations shouldn't get sat on the back burner with the hopes it goes away. Depending on the organization, there should be a neutral (hopefully) HR department that handles it.

I'm sorry that I did not see this before now. I don't know the answer to your questions. I am planning to ask some questions this summer.

I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to by "severe consequences that CAM said were happening. Was that in one of their updates or was it a private conversation? It's not language I remember hearing from CAM but I'm not sure if I saw all their updates either.
I'm was just giving my perspective, which is that I don't feel like CAM misled me into thinking these two had been fired mid-2019.

I know some folks would like to see Paul and Eli punished for their outstandingly poor judgement which contributed to this debacle. I don't feel that CAM has ever indicated that they intend do punish them.
