Seems we may get it and flip the house we are in now. Seems yet another move is on the books. This is a local one, but I could not get everything in the truck this last trip, so one more trip to Indiana may be getting planned.

Got in yesterday and got the truck half unloaded. Should finish unloading today.

Hoping this is not April Fools! :D

Today was my 50th high school reunion, from two years ago. I was encouraged to see a few people who are going on with the Lord. As usual at reunions, there were the polite white lies, which included stating that I was one of the smart ones in school. I made sure to disabuse them of that notion: "No, I was quiet, and people therefore assumed (since I only volunteered answers I knew were right), that I was smart."

Earlier this morning, one of the coordinators of the event called me to ask if I would be willing to ask the blessing over the meal. "Well, actually, I am old-fashioned about that...." :) So he found someone else to pray.

If you were wise enough to only answer the right questions then you were smart.

What does being old fashioned have to do with asking a blessing over the meal? If your head was covered (I am assuming you cover) and you were not teaching, nor usurping authority over the meal, what was your "old fashioned" hinderance? Please enlighten me.

Okay, I will enlighten you. I don't pray aloud when men are present, even if I am covered. My interpretation of Scripture is that women don't take the lead spiritually. If only women were present, it would be fine.

But hey, that's just my own interpretation.

Old-fashioned because most American churches today have a much more liberal view of gender roles than I do.

i appreciate reading this, too. i wasn’t sure of what you meant.
i much appreciate when men take the lead, it’s comforting and touching as nothing else.

in our first 2 years of marriage, we lived next door to his parents. it worked out well, everyone was careful about boundaries. great memories. i recommend it. my mil shed a few tears when we moved. i remember her standing there as we drove away. the only time i saw her cry. she passed in 2006.

my dear fil would always pray at mealtime, it became one of my favorite parts of our shared meals.

he passed in 1996. we sure miss them. they had full lives. many hard challenges, many joys.
there are no replacements.

Lost power from a bad storm last night. May not be back up for a day or two. Running a generator on the frig to keep my meat frozen. Rest is living as our Amish brethren do.

I will not be active here until power is back, so behave!! ;)

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

.. "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." (1 Cor 15:14)

"What you sow is not brought to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel of wheat, perhaps, or of some other kind;…So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown corruptible; it is raised incorruptible. It is sown dishonorable; it is raised glorious. It is sown weak; it is raised powerful. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual one. So, too, it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living being," the last Adam a life-giving spirit. But the spiritual was not first; rather the natural and then the spiritual. The first man was from the earth, earthly; the second man, from heaven. As was the earthly one, so also are the earthly, and as is the heavenly one, so also are the heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthly one, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly one." (1 Cor 15:36-37, 42-49) ..

Tonight my sister and I visited a church forty-five minutes from here, since our church didn't have an evening service. We had been invited by a little Asian man who used to talk to us before the Ryan's where he was a waiter, closed--fifteen years ago. So I hadn't seen him in all that time. He had framed, self-calligraphized copies of Psalm 23 for both of us.

After the service, a young man came over to welcome us. Turns out he lives in our town. What he really wanted to know :) was if I'm Brethren. He has Amish roots, and his mom still covers her head.

Oh, and another man checked each of us to see if we were saved. Well, I mean, he asked us; he didn't quote, Hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

I must say, this was probably the most welcoming church I have ever visited.
