This in my view is a preview of coming attractions as Western aid pours into Ukraine. Good that he was caught.

I'm noticing a rather sudden shift in coverage of the news media that is far less favourable to the Ukrainian government's side (not necessarily pro-Russian). For example, the BBC just ran an article about "war crimes" alleging Ukrainians shot and killed a Russian surrendered soldier, aka a pow.

This is highly suspicious. I very much doubt that incidents like the above, or the corruption that mike showed in his post above, is something that just started today. It has probably been going on during the entire conflict. So why is the media suddenly "balancing" its coverage?

The truth of the matter is that we don't really know what is going on, but we do know from the last two decades of history and plenty of independent research that both Russia and the present Ukrainian government have high levels of dishonesty, corruption, lack of a free press, propaganda, and wild accusations against their enemies. Let us all take pause from trying to decide who the "good guys" and "bad guys" are here. Few things would sadden me more than to see the obedient sheep who obey what the Western news media tell them go from waving Ukrainian flags and putting sunflowers in the Twitter bios to souring on Ukraine and getting worked up about Ukrainian atrocities.

The reality for most people - Ukrainian, Russian, or the battered citizens of Donetsk and Luhansk - is that they are all a lot worse off, and this conflict isn't going to end anytime soon - a consistent peace witness acknowledges this, and also acknowledges that the path to less corruption and less violence is not adopting Western values and ideals, but instead individuals turning their lives over to follow Christ.

I have yet to claim there are "good guys" in this conflict. I just decided to point out that the Russians in Luhansk and Donetsk might feel they should be free from being shelled for the last 8 years, just like the rest of Ukrainians might feel they should be free from a Russian invasion.

As long as Ukrainian armed forces are getting supplied from the west and have the manpower, the war will probably continue. What do they have to lose?

it does.
unfortunately, these exact kinds of crimes, piracy/extortion, have often been normalized even without war.

HK described some harsh realities in Honduras that are so bad, so widespread, his view is that Aid should be ended, it does not reach the intended parties! so, pirates grab the aid, then send refugees/migrants to the border (because Aid did not help). HK wrote in first person, such reports have been common for decades.

problem-solving is harder than throwing money out there. that’s the easy part, relatively speaking.

https://twitter.
Ukraine has everything to lose, while outsiders, not much. At least, so far. For outsiders it may be like a video game, remote, detached. Ukraine is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Will the outside gamers allow Ukraine to find resolution? i do not sense any interest in it. just the opposite. at Ukraine’s expense.
