Cory had referred us to an apostolic church at one point as it was the closest option. Message him with what you are looking for and he can help. I doubt he is going to tell you everything...

The other option is that these churches already there know the other churches around them and through networking you often can find them.

Okay I appreciate it.
But can we just be open an public and list every single Anabaptist church in Texas right here?

I appreciate I can contact Cory and that I may have to pay for his database or whatever, but let's just list them. There may be others in Texas looking for an Anabaptist church. I wouldn't understand why we can't publicly list them.

I don’t have permission to do that. I could share you churches from my own denomination, there is one in Paris my wife used to teach at. She has a little Eiffel Tower souvenir from when she taught there.

What is your denomination?
If it is Anabaptist that is exactly what my frustration is.

Holdeman Mennonites. You can actually buy a yearbook from Gospel Publishers which has information about every congregation including detailed contact information for everyone from the school board to the sewing committee, including countries around the world. I would be glad to share information about nearby congregations, but the best thing to do would be to call one of the preachers who will know a lot more about area congregations than I do.

This information is not put online. Most more conservative churches either don't want their information online or else there are privacy concerns.

Chris wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 9:53 am This is part question and part vent.

There are apparently a bunch of Anabaptist churches in Seminole, TX.
But Pilgrim Church finder apparently doesn't approve of them.
The "Red Book" apparently doesn't approve of them.
Nor does the CLE book have them.

This luxury of saying "nah not in our directory" may be a fun way to show church politics in PA, OH, or IN.... But when somebody is drained of churches in their area and needs to find something in not such strong Anabaptist demographics church write offs are harming others a lot. Perhaps they'd rather see people go to fundamental Baptist churches rather than attend a more or less conservative church than they'd "approve of". BMA anybody? Excluded. What else is left out? Okay my rant is done.

With that said can somebody please help name every Anabaptist church in Seminole, TX area or TX in general that are NOT in the books / finders? Including Old German Brethren, Hutterite, or whatever else has been left out. Thank you!
If you don't mind my asking, why the fixation on attending an "Anabaptist" church rather than some other type of church? Are other churches "not good enough"?
And if that is the case, how do you know that the proper dividing line is "any kind of Anabaptist church" as opposed to a certain level of conservatism within the Anabaptist group?
Aren't you doing the same thing the directory providers are doing? Establishing a certain line or definition the denotes what is "approved of"?

Chris,
This older thread might be of interest. It’s not lengthy.

This strikes me as bizarre and wrong-headed. Why is one person trying to monetize and maintain exclusivity over information that should be available universally? And why are the Beachy Amish accommodating it? It seems that Cory is using the Beachy Amish web site as his portal unless I misunderstand what those links upstream are all about.

I suppose one could argue that it is really only up to each separate organization to maintain and publicize its own directories as it sees fit. MCUSA has its own detailed church directory on its web site. https://www.mennoniteusa.org/who-are-me ... -a-church/ As does CMC https://cmcrosedale.org/congregational-directory/ and as do the Beachy Amish. http://www.beachyam.org/churches.htm But I suppose it isn't really the role or place for MCUSA or CMC or the Beachy Amish to put together directories of other groups that they are not affiliated with.

In any event, Google is making the question largely moot as one can pull up complete church directories for just about any community simply by doing internet searches and google maps.

And who says that particular database of information ought to be available universally?

I don't get what's so bizarre or wrong-headed about asking to get paid for coalescing information in a (more or less) usable format. Why should he work for free? I also don't particularly see the problem with him using his own website as "his portal" to use your term.

What do you think the Beachy Amish ought to do about it. Sue him? Make him take the website down? Steal it from him?
