The only reason you all care this much, is the media whipped you up into it.
I don't share Neto's family history, but I have Ukrainian-American friends. I have connections to people who have adopted Ukrainian children. I have connections to people in neighboring countries who are working tirelessly to minister to Ukrainian refugees. What I'm hearing from these people is not in conflict with what I'm hearing from the media. But perhaps it explains why I'm paying more attention to this situation that to other things happening in other places, and will continue to do so if or when the headlines move on to other matters.
It's fine to point out biases and agendae and sensationalism on the part of the media, which certainly exist, but that can be done without becoming a devil's advocate for the other side.
oj has a point, this forum has members with first-person history or ties to Ukraine, that’s not new.
it’s unlikely nett has a grasp of this. he’s not wrong about media stirring emotions. that’s reflected on most topics on this forum - that is, the ones that generate the most heat.
the convoy in Canada was another example. i believe it was discussed way more on this forum than in the mainstream - several members are in Canada, and, lots of family and fellowship ties.
nett has good points that deserve consideration. i don’t think he’s trying to offend in any way.
i don’t think anyone is.
i don’t think it’s necessary for “everyone” to respond exactly the same way to this terrible situation.
having a different perspective does NOT make you evil or uncaring.
none of us has the magic wand (we think we’d love to have) to solve the problems, to stop the pain.
we have prayer. we are impatient, not wanting to wait for God.
Putin+Zelensky are the principals that may find a resolution. i’m praying for them to find a way everyday.
i pray the mainstream and war mongers ALLOW them to find a way out. i’m sad to think outsiders may have done more damage than good. we may never know.
God knows.
