Russia Invades Ukraine 2022

Re: Russia Invades Ukraine 2022
Even before this war started there were areas of the country that were no longer being occupied or farmed the way they were 90 years ago. Places where there had been thriving villages and towns, with industry and productive farms. The USSR decimated the country side in the 1930's, and now the Russian Federation has done / is doing it again. It is the poor who suffer the most. They cannot flee to neighboring countries, they do not have relatives in Poland, other parts of Europe, or in the USA. After the dust settles, they will still be there - that is, the ones who have not been killed & buried in mass graves.

What happened to Crimea after 2014?Ernie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 7:37 pmI've been wondering the same thing.mike wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 7:13 am What will happen to the vast amount of damaged infrastructure after this war is over if Russia wins control over Ukraine? if Ukraine keeps its independence? Where is the money going to come from? It's clear from the pictures and videos that the damage is staggering.

The United Nations now estimates that 3 million refugees have left Ukraine… Almost half of them children. What a tragedy.

Yes, I prayed again this morning that this awful war will come to and end.

Add to that, I pray for the many men, women and children who are suffering under the cruelty of war. Yesterday I saw a photo of a little girl who was killed, dressed in her little girl outfit, and having cute pigtails. It breaks my heart.Ernie wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 7:55 amNeto wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 7:56 pm Even before this war started there were areas of the country that were no longer being occupied or farmed the way they were 90 years ago. i pray we in the West, no matter our faith beliefs, are not found culpable in eternity. not in years leading up to it, or response.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:07 amAdd to that, I pray for the many men, women and children who are suffering under the cruelty of war. Russia can’t fix what it has done here…nett wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 8:06 pmWhat happened to Crimea after 2014?Ernie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 7:37 pmI've been wondering the same thing.mike wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 7:13 am What will happen to the vast amount of damaged infrastructure after this war is over if Russia wins control over Ukraine? if Ukraine keeps its independence? There are two brave journalists left in Mariupol- They are from the Associated Press. Here is there stunning account. It is very difficult to read at the heart level, but I think it’s one of the most important pieces written on what’s going on among the people in the region:

Interesting that the article completely fail to mention who in Ukrainian military is trying to hold Mariupol. Why Would Russia want to expend this many resources in Mariupol? What's the benefit?Dan Z wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:45 amRussia can’t fix what it has done here…

Re: Russia Invades Ukraine 2022
It appears the NYT is begrudgingly considering the idea of peace talks.
“Imagining Peace in Ukraine”
Is it possible? And what could it look like?
https://www.nytimes.com/series/us-morning-briefing
Jesus would put an end to this, lickety-split. How??! He always came up with ways above+beyond human reasoning.
His way offered Light.
Putin did what Putin did.
The only thing in others’ control is response. Jesus’ response would be?? .. ..
In the past, maybe back on MD, there were numbers of accounts of dramatic non-resistent responses to evil, torture, death, deaths of children and family members. Men committed to enduring hell rather than resist. Klayton was one, not an active member for years.
What if the West had not filled Ukraine’s heads with heady promises of strength+force? You fight, we’ve got your back!
What if Ukraine found Russia at its borders, armed and advancing? Might they have found agreement then, BEFORE bloodshed, destruction, millions of refugees?
What is the West’s responsibility? Did promises of strength cause unnecessary trauma? i’m afraid it did.
Was it worth it? looking at the carnage, i doubt survivors will decide “prevailing” is of utmost importance.
parents holding dead babies are not likely to believe they’ve prevailed over evil.
What’s done is done.
As always, what remains is assessment of reality, then decisions going forward.
It appears, when+how the NYT decides is pretty much how it will go.
Jesus, eh. Maybe later.
i wonder what Klayton is thinking about all this? some reading this topic probably know.
