Back to the teacher who insisted on using the traditional pronouns.
Her argument was that she has a religious conviction (and claims freedom to act it out).
This is a factual statement and must be treated as that, even if it is normally left to subjective opinion.
The officials must at least try to refute the fact.
Insofar the counterargument about students calling teachers by nicknames is faulty.
No student has really pretended to do this from a religious conviction.
But here we see how lightheartedly the protection of individual religions and consciences is brushed aside nowadays.
They are no more protected because they are treated like mere private whims.
That's the slippery slope down into Bolshevism.
(And of course, that shows that it is most important to have one's own Christian schools where Christian consciences are effectively protected.)
i appreciate your perspective.
i honestly believe Ukraine has 2 wolves at their door, literally destroying their land.
i believe there are good people in every land, doing the “heavy lifting” of everyday life, while leaders decide wars/fates.
the way of earthly life. youthful U.S. is sold on its own virtue, its dream of virtue. but, sins+faults, failures are accumulating.
i have a virtual friend in NW Europe. he surprises with his pov. i did not expect this:
I love America, but they claim they are going around the world freeing it, when in fact all they are interested in is enslaving it to abortion and homosexuality. Both which have huge consequences for America herself and the wider world.
Reasonable, thoughtful people “could not believe” his observation could be true. i don’t want to believe it. Even denying these things are now part of formal foreign policy. In other words, “accept our aid, accept our policies.” (It’s not the U.S., alone, but we in the U.S. are convinced we are special, and better-than.) It can be almost comical, some try to deny they believe it, then proceed to prove it in their own words.
Such policies are a long way away from:
Luke 6:35

34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you?
Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.
35But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return.
Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.…
For those who have no Christian conscience, extortion just makes sense. Logical human reasoning.
i find it specially loathsome to extort people under duress of war or other disaster.
i think your warning about Bolshevism is valid. “worse” is possible.
