^^^ The “poll” part of this thread went missing recently. Not a problem. :)
The thread grew beyond the poll .. in a good way. Such is life. It truly is.

.. i’m in need of prayers, esp for courage i lack, for wisdom i lack, for insights i lack, for patience in the right measure;
for timing
to say+do things to benefit, not harm; for faith to get through it as God wills.

i pray these types of prayers often, if not daily or multiple times daily.

for ladies who might read this, without my husband to lean on and share burdens, these sorts of prayers are tenfold-intense.
there is something about facing burdens alone .. that gives some insight into what being husband/father/head of household is.

true, husbands aren’t/shouldn’t be “stand-alone” decision-makers, hopefully, they are not!
but, there is something uniquely weighty in the position of “ ‘in the final analysis,’ i’m responsible here.”
:-|

.. there is a lot at stake. there have been years of not doing very well with it. years of praying for healing.
i’m now trying to muster courage to take new steps. i’m seeking a win-win outcome, i see it as abundantly possible.
if others don’t/can’t see win-win, it doesn’t matter what i see.

if my husband were alive, even in terrible illness, he would have this in hand, by his presence and innate leadership.
that was his gift. even alz did not rob him of that role, the respect he had, or his human dignity.

i limp along, not sufficient for the task. praying for The One to guide me the best He can. not much to work with here.
:-|

.. i’m procrastinating on a big step right now. i’m running out of days to commit. the temptation to do nothing/“let it go” is great.

The report below about Mark Twain is useful beyond writing skills.
It’s about effective communication, which goes far beyond the written word. It’s about heart. and faith. Truth.

The title may be a little screwy. :?
Most of us don’t care so much about being “exceptionally persuasive,” we long to be understood.
Mark Twain was/is very good at it. (He advised against using the word, “very”) - good advice.

“How Emotionally Intelligent People Use the Mark Twain Rule to Become Exceptionally Persuasive” (perhaps, to be understood)
“Let me get to the point.”

will i step out of my comfort zone? i’m at a (terrifying) crossroad. do nothing? do something? then, what?
often, doing nothing, relying on the Holy Spirit is “the very best.” sometimes, the Holy Spirit guides more.
which is it??! is it something in-between? something that will unfold .. step by step, over time?

take a step. pray for the next step. take a step. pray for the next step. over+over+over again. .. my peculiar life.

A large part in my angst is:
Fear of facing God, being asked/told, “You knew, yet you did nothing.” ^^^

“Don’t interfere” versus “You knew, you did nothing.”

There are certain things i am at peace with in my life. This is something i hope to find peace with.
It helps me find empathy for those in hard positions who have to make decisions where there are possible dire consequences no matter the decision. It’s often easy to see/judge from the outside. “He should have done this, or that!” In real time, in real life, maybe not easy.

i’ve known. i’ve tried to facilitate constructive change for years. i have not been effective. now what?
i see the opportunity for a positive turning point. is it God’s will? i pray so.

I'm requesting prayer for a co-worker. They just had the scare of their lives... their daughter came close to being sex-trafficked... scary for any parent!

Prayers for a hurting family who live close to Schuylkill Haven, here in Pa. Little Abram 5, and Isaac 4, saw skaters on their pond on the prior day. The next day their parents were butchering and the mother took her eyes off them for a few minutes. They went down to the pond thinking they can walk on it, like the skaters did the day before. But the sun was out and the temp had risen, and they both broke through the ice. By that time their mother saw and ran down to the pond, in attempt to retrieve them. She managed to get to Isaac, but then was unable to pull herself out of the pond. Their large dog saw the mother and child in distress and came after them. With the help of the dog she was able to pull herself out of the pond. Abram was found drowned under the ice. Isaac survived, but died the next day. The couple has a younger child, a little girl. The little boys funeral's are on Friday. This family needs our prayers.

I received news yesterday morning that a friend passed away quite suddenly. Went to the hospital Friday with pneumonia... Sunday morning he was gone. Seems like I lost so many people in my life the past few years...

They will need prayers for time to come.
i live near a pond, mostly iced over now. i’ve been thinking and praying for this family, esp when i see the ice.

i would have to be sedated. i’m not sure i would ever return. for the child, i hope so. i cannot honestly say i know i would. i hope never to find out.

we get so many “second chances” in this life. not always. “if only” can cause insanity.

Please pray for a local OO family. Four years ago a 24 year old son was killed in an extremely freak accident, this year in January a 20 year old son was killed in a tractor rollover. Minutes ago we received word that a 30 year old unmarried son committed suicide.

Apparently another surviving brother also "struggles with life". Pray that he may receive the help he needs.
