Yes, if they give the weapons to Ukraine, I expect it will eventually be a gift to the Russians.

Maybe it will be over quicker than we think.

Distributing more weapons to more people doesn't generally bring about peace.

Things i do not typically see or think about. There is always more going on than what is routinely reported.

“These Nerds Saw Ukraine Invasion Start On Google Maps Before Putin Said a Word”
“Academics spotted a traffic jam develop on Google Maps’ traffic monitor right next to an encampment of Russian military vehicles south of Belgorod, and knew something was off.”

As the Americans discovered in Iraq. Conquering a country is one thing. Holding it and governing it is another thing entirely.

Only 104 American soldiers had died by the time Bush famously declared "Mission Accomplished" and an end to major combat operations in Iraq. Over the next seven years, another 4,400 Americans (or 99% of the total) died in the subsequent guerilla insurgency, mostly by snipers and IEDs.

The invasion might be over quickly. But the war might just be starting. Ukraine is a larger country and with a larger population than Iraq. And the democratically-elected government of Ukraine seems to have far more legitimacy and support from Ukrainians as well as the outside world than Saddam Hussein had in Iraq.

From what I have observed, Ukraine has not once in this entire conflict refused talks with Russia or walked away from the negotiating table. Not during the buildup to war, and not after the invasion started. It was Russia that walked away from negotiations and launched military operations, not Ukraine.

Snopes / “Did Putin Threaten Nuclear Retaliation Against Anyone Who Gets in His Way?”
“During a Kremlin speech, the Russian president said there would be "consequences" like "never seen in history" to those who interfere with Russia's military incursion into Ukraine.”
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/putin ... s-ukraine/

This report is overloaded with annoying ads, but i think it’s more honest about what Putin said than some sources.
“Never seen in history,” is intentionally ambiguous. The world saw Hiroshima. Why jump to that particular default?

Things are bad, unstable, unpredictable. No need to make them worse.

Before DJT, nuclear threat talk was from North Korea. “Nuclear” is not going to go away. Neither will the MIC.

Chatted with a Ukrainian friend in Philadelphia. His family in Kiev is okay for now, but are anticipating rocket attacks from the north tonight.

So far, it's just taking forever to get out of the country. Some missionary acquaintances are still waiting after waiting multiple days at the border. They were 1½ miles from the border 2 days ago, they're 900 yards away today.

For whatever reason, the Ukraine doesn't want people (including refugees) to leave.
