Re: Poll: Freedom Convoy and Related Protests
Well, Ernie, right or wrong, there has been a Jericho March going on in Ottawa for the past week. A group of people has walked the perimeter of Parliament Hill every morning, praying. I do not profess to know what their prayers were. I do not profess to know what the results are that they hope for. I only know that they were very open about their Christianity and that they were marching and praying. I believe they asked for horns to be blown when they completed the 7th March on the 7th day. I assumed that is the horn blowing to which you referred, but there may have been other horn blowing of which I am not aware.

Wow. Here is an interesting CBC article on some of the Christian subtext to the protest. It does give you a bit of a sense of what they were likely praying for, - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/faith-co ... -1.6350538Signtist wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 12:09 pm Well, Ernie, right or wrong, there has been a Jericho March going on in Ottawa for the past week. Re: Poll: Freedom Convoy and Related Protests
From the CBC report^^
From what has been reported over years, the CBC is left leaning, the presumption can be that smearing Christianity is part+parcel.
They take it as far as they can, which fuels flames. Peace is NOT their goal, selling copy is.
So. fwiw.
From the start, convoy leaders have described problems with “legacy” media+politicians. Nothing contradicts what they’ve described.
The article could have been worse/much worse. But it is bad enough. It accomplishes its goal.
.. While no mainstream Christian organization has thrown its official support behind the Freedom Convoy, some of the funds raised for the cause have been donated through the GiveSendGo crowdfunding site, which is administered by a Christian group. ..

"mainstream Christian organisation" - this is the same CBC that informs us that "Mennonites support vaccination" because MC Canada said so. The rest of us Mennonites (who have not issued official statements) apparently don't matter and don't exist. (It is rather conspicuous they never stated what the Hutterite or Amish position is, nor have they ever talked about the denominations that do oppose vaccines, Christian Science being the most notable one in the context that they avoid any medical treatment whatsoever.)

It would seem to me, the freedom that only comes in knowing Christ has not been known by many professing Christians. We do have a message and mission regarding freedom but not the freedom this world knows and gives and one they cannot take from us. Trudeau thought DJT was a brute and a hack.
He should have consulted with Robert.

You would think it would just be easier to sit down and negotiate with the truckers.Four premiers have stated their discontent with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's reported decision to invoke the Emergencies Act.
Premier Scott Moe, along with Jason Kenney, and Francois Legault voiced their displeasure with the move, with Moe tweeting: "The illegal blockades must end, but police already have sufficient tools to enforce the law and clear the blockades, as they did over the weekend in Windsor."
"Therefore, Saskatchewan does not support the Trudeau government invoking the Emergencies Act. If the federal government does proceed with this measure, I would hope it would only be invoked in provinces that request it, as the legislation allows."
Premier Kenney called the gesture "unhelpful, stating at a press conference on Monday: "At this point for the federal government to reach in over top of us without offering anything, in particular, would frankly be unhelpful."
"We do not wish to have a state of emergency in Quebec. It's not necessary and it's time to bring together not divide," Legault said.
Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson said in a statement released on Monday: "I am not currently satisfied the Emergencies Act should be applied in Manitoba. Winnipeg’s situation is dramatically different from the one in Ottawa. The Emerson border situation is very different than the one faced in Windsor."
According to the CBC, Trudeau told his caucus last night that the measures would be put into place to handle protestors across Canada, though there are no plans to send in the military.
They do not seem to be unreasonable.
Robert’s understatement of the year, imho. ^^^ Posted on Valentine’s Day.![]()
Anyone would guess, all Trump-haters, top-down, would embrace peaceful negotiations, eschew police-military response, at any cost!
My, how times change.![]()

They don’t care, and have no intention to be bothered to learn.

Hutterites and Amish are not Mennonites. And the Christian Scientists do not actually oppose vaccines. This is their official position: https://www.christianscience.com/press- ... lic-healthJosh wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 4:09 pm "mainstream Christian organisation" - this is the same CBC that informs us that "Mennonites support vaccination" because MC Canada said so. Which branch of the Mennonite church opposes vaccines?

Which branch is in favor of vaccines? Can you find a position for the Eastern Mennonites? the Western Fellowship? the Mid Atlantic? the Nationwide?Ken wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 9:33 pmHutterites and Amish are not Mennonites. Can you find people on both sides in those groups? do they acknowledge the truth of both positions? Most conservative Mennonites wouldn't have position papers they publish for public opinion to laud with praise.
In my church, the Bishop, the Bishop's adult children and their families, and several other families have a stance against fetal cells. I could conclude based on the members of my church that we (western fellowship) have a position against using fetal cell based vaccines. Does that mean we don't tolerate someone pro vaccine? sure we do, as long as they are respectful of their personal views.
Other groups are very focused on defending their position publically, but I would say the conservatives are not in that camp.
