i’d like to remind, police do not set policies.
they are visible, but they take orders, they do not establish policies.
they are public servants. not on the top of the chain of public servants.
the problems are top-down.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
Public "servants" should serve the public, not the top-down government bureaucrats. If the police are arresting pastors, the police are the problem.
"I was just following orders" is not an acceptable excuse.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
I disagree.
Police are public servants who take direction from ELECTED public servants - elected to REPRESENT legal citizens. Governments vary, but this dynamic is pretty much the same.
Jesus dealt with it.
Under a different form of government.
For those who vote:
be cognizant of what you’re voting for.
Many do not choose to be police. But those who do promise to take orders. No matter country.
There are incompetent and/or corrupt police, of course!
I’m not referring to these exceptions.
Unions are the central problem in keeping bad apples on active duty (not isolated to police). Bad apples hurt EVERYONE.
In the videos shared in this thread, I do not see police abusing power. I see professional police patiently carrying out orders from faulty government policies.
I doubt any go home happy about the experience.
“A bad day at the office.”
I appreciate the opportunity to discuss this.
If folks don’t seek the source of problems, resolution is unlikely.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
Actually the police are supposed to enforce the law, not the dictates of politicians. This is how a society governed by rule of law works. A society where police enforce political dictates, not laws, is a tyranny.
Democracy with universal suffrage is probably the worst political system ever designed. America's founders knew this which is why there was limited suffrage and other checks against democracy. Universal suffrage results in selecting the biggest sociopaths as leaders. The only check on a such a system is lower level public servants, like the police, defending the law against these sociopathic leaders. For those who vote:
be cognizant of what you’re voting for.

Actually here in Ontario the police in some regions are obeying the directives of Public Health officials who are not elected representatives of the people.temporal1 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:53 pmI disagree.![]()

Laws determine what powers Public Health officials have. Either way, police are following directives.
In the U.S., I believe local police answer to local mayors, SWAT answers to - Homeland Security? ..
The military answers to the Feds. etc.
In the U.S., POTUS and Congress are at the top.
None of these, police or military, establish policies.
Armed or not, officers, the enlisted, are on the bottom.

Is there any evidence in the NT, that NT Christians purposefully put themselves in situations where they could protest their freedoms being taken away?

No, I am talking about going somewhere very visible to protest the governments regulations. Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
There's an article in the New York Times about how the National Butterfly Center in Mission, TX has had to close its doors to the public, due to conspiracy theories that the property (located on the US-Mexico border) is a cover for human smuggling, sex trafficking and child exploitation. These conspiracy theories have led to a series of escalating confrontations between theorists and protestors with the staff to the point that the Center believes its no longer safe to stay open. One of the conflicts is the border wall being built next to the Butterfly Center, which opposes the wall running across its property.Ernie wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 9:06 pmNo, I am talking about going somewhere very visible to protest the governments regulations. Ernie, your comment reminded me of this passage:
Marching around with guns and singing "Amazing Grace" is a great witness.Days later, a border security gathering attracted conservative activists to nearby McAllen with speakers like Michael T. Flynn, the former general and national security adviser to Mr. Trump, and the musician Ted Nugent. On Jan. 30, roughly a hundred attendees marched to a section of border wall near the center, some armed with long guns, others singing “Amazing Grace.”
After that, the nonprofit board voted to close the butterfly center, while continuing to pay its staff.
