So you are saying your pickup tailgate has covid????

Probably does. I just took the test sort of on a whim. I had access to excess Covid quick tests, so I just tried one. I hadn’t at all thought through the possible ramifications of a positive reading.
I suppose I’ll not go to church tomorrow. Seems dumb because I know it’s all over at church, but it’s not a big deal for me to stay at home either. No one is getting tested. I can easily work from home as necessary next week. But the disease is everywhere in this community already anyway so it’s kind of has a performative feel to it all.

You aren't kidding. It looks like your county currently has the highest Covid rate of any county in the entire Pacific Northwest.

BMJ / British Medical Journal
Editorials
“Covid-19 vaccines and treatments: we must have raw data, now”

BMJ 2022; 376 doi: https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj.o102 (Published 19 January 2022)
https://www.bmj.com/content/376/bmj.o102
.. The BMJ supports vaccination policies based on sound evidence.
As the global vaccine rollout continues, it cannot be justifiable or in the best interests of patients and the public that we are left to just trust “in the system,” with the distant hope that the underlying data may become available for independent scrutiny at some point in the future. The same applies to treatments for covid-19. Transparency is the key to building trust and an important route to answering people’s legitimate questions about the efficacy and safety of vaccines and treatments and the clinical and public health policies established for their use.

Twelve years ago we called for the immediate release of raw data from clinical trials.1 We reiterate that call now.
Data must be available when trial results are announced, published, or used to justify regulatory decisions.
There is no place for wholesale exemptions from good practice during a pandemic.
The public has paid for covid-19 vaccines through vast public funding of research, and it is the public that takes on the balance of benefits and harms that accompany vaccination.
The public, therefore, has a right and entitlement to those data, as well as to the interrogation of those data by experts.

Pharmaceutical companies are reaping vast profits without adequate independent scrutiny of their scientific claims.33
The purpose of regulators is not to dance to the tune of rich global corporations and enrich them further;
it is to protect the health of their populations.
We need complete data transparency for all studies, we need it in the public interest, and we need it now.

It would be great to witness PUBLIC HEALTH&SAFETY REGULATORS (re: both disease+crime reporting)
return to goals “to protect the health of their populations,” rather than prioritizing corporate profits, and/or political leveraging, and/or politicized social engineering experiments.

It’s horrifying that lobbies+activists have been allowed to do so much damage. The tail wags the dog.

That old expression "Third time's the charm" we shall not embrace for this. We were so thankful to have the antibodies late summer into fall, but it looks like that makes no difference with this present variant-but at least this one doesn't seem to be as mean. I'm not sure for someone who has had a recent case of covid how much a cold, flu, variant, could set them back-

Well we know that some people just don't aquire immunity regardless... some people get chicken pox multiple times. Also we are attempting to equate immunity to something as rapidly changing as a cold... We have people immune to MERS that are immune to SARS-Covid-19 as well... so who knows.

Well. After thinking about it a little more, I figured I could do this much. I generally work alone in a office in town anyway. Sometime my nephew works there too. But his family is sick too. I also decided to postpone some in person indoor meetings this week. Or I’ll do them via Zoom. I was to meet with a neighbor outdoors on farm tomorrow, I’ll see if he wants to meet or not.
Sounds like church attendance was a bit sparse this morning. I think I’ll take another test on Thursday.

It’s funny how this works. I almost feel worse knowing it is Covid, whereas had I not tested, I’d probably feel better.

Some of the students at school apparently have had COVID multiple times. Omicron seems to be changing some things.

I read a comment from an epidemiologist who pointed out that a lot of people seem to be misunderstanding what "endemic" means -- it doesn't mean that virus has been eradicated, only that the risk and amount of deaths are considered acceptable by society.
