I'm impressed they are actually reporting these numberssilentreader wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:08 pm So now here in Ontario they are going to quit testing asymptomatic people and only test hi-risk sectors, which likely means that as of Monday official case numbers will radically change.
Official Ontario data for to-day showed that 80.3% of new cases were among fully vaccinated people
13.6% of new cases were among unvaccinated people.
The rates show a 7 day average of new infections 79.76/100,000 in fully vaccinated
63.77/100,000 in partially vaccinated
59.75/100,000 in unvaccinated people
Hospitalizations of fully vaccinated have almost tripled (181 to 536) in the past week, even though new cases among the
vaccinated have not quite doubled (+80.95%)
Hospitalizations of unvaccinated have gone up 45% while new cases have gone up 32.48%
ICU numbers have gone up approximately 25% among unvaccinated and about 35% among vaccinated, but those numbers are somewhat fluid from day to day.

I can post the link if you like, I'm reasonably sure I got it right. Actually I think clicking on the old link I posted last week(?) will take you to today's data.Soloist wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:13 pmI'm impressed they are actually reporting these numberssilentreader wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:08 pm So now here in Ontario they are going to quit testing asymptomatic people and only test hi-risk sectors, which likely means that as of Monday official case numbers will radically change.

I don't doubt your data, it fits with what I'm hearing from my network of spies.silentreader wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:32 pmI can post the link if you like, I'm reasonably sure I got it right. Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
So, if my math is right, 80 out of 100,000 means my changes of being infected are running at 8 in a million. And being fully vaccinated at 80% of that means my chances of being infected are roughly 6.5 in a million. I think I can still sleep quite well with those numbers.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
So, word I've been seeing is that the question being pushed is if these vaccinated are in the hospital for covid or with covid... Some have pointed out thats exactly what the "antivaxxers" were saying all along and there is a push to say that the data must be bad since it doesn't line up with the science.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
It's pretty obvious what they are trying to do, for one thing they want to be able to call it a pandemic of the unvaccinated again. They are gambling on enough vaccinated people not going in to get tested so that the data gets skewed at least closer to what the "science" says it should be.Soloist wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 9:14 pm So, word I've been seeing is that the question being pushed is if these vaccinated are in the hospital for covid or with covid... Here's some local shenanigans towards that end. Local Lab....

It's actually at 81%, which pretty much reflects the vaccinated new infections.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 9:41 pmBut approximately 77% have been vaccinated, correct?silentreader wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:08 pmICU numbers have gone up approximately 25% among unvaccinated and about 35% among vaccinated, but those numbers are somewhat fluid from day to day.
I don't expect ICU numbers to go crazy, omicron is supposedly less deadly, and they estimate 94% of the new infections in Ontario are omicron. On the other hand, the biggest jump in vaccinated hospitalizations came in the last three days, about 2.4x higher, so it's probably too early to tell what ICU numbers will do.

Have you seen anything on reinfection risk that has a decent sample size?silentreader wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 10:21 pmIt's actually at 81%, which pretty much reflects the vaccinated new infections.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 9:41 pmBut approximately 77% have been vaccinated, correct?silentreader wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:08 pmICU numbers have gone up approximately 25% among unvaccinated and about 35% among vaccinated, but those numbers are somewhat fluid from day to day.

I've probably had Covid twice, the first time "before it was possible to have it", starting Christmas Eve 2019 and the second time this past November. This last time my wife and I and our youngest daughter got it virtually the same time. My wife and I are unvaccinated, our daughter was fully vaccinated. She got tested, positive, because of her position. My wife and I did not get tested. For all 3 of us the severity and duration was almost identical, minimal.
The interesting thing is that one of the "long covid" symptoms that I had since Dec, 2019, a constant battle with phlegm, went away after this Covid in Nov. and I have had no phlegm for over a month. That was probably still the Delta variant so we should have fresh immunity. So maybe we'll be guinea pigs on re-infection with omicron. We're not going looking for it, but chances are it will find us.
