What an uplifting press conference - and witness for Jesus!

Things I learned or had confirmed:
  • 1) A ransom of some unknown amount was paid, but the captors did not follow through in good faith with a total release.

    2) There was no Haitian driver of the vehicle - that was a rumor from the beginning.

    3) No one was physically harmed or assaulted!! Praise God!

    4) Despite difficult conditions, the hostages were treated relatively well throughout the ordeal.

    5) They had contact with other hostages from outside of their group while in captivity and were able to minister to/encourage them.

    6) They did, in fact, at God's leading, escape on the night of the 15th - slipping past guards and traveling cross country, maybe 10 miles across the gang-controlled territory, through difficult terrain NW toward a mountain landmark (I'm assuming from other reports this was Morn Cabrit - Goat Mountain - which makes sense to me knowing the area) until finding communication help from a local Haitian.

    7) The power of prayer and song carried them through their ordeal.

    8) The children did especially well throughout all of this and were liked and supplied with food by their captors.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

I feel a little better about the situation now. Apparently of the four versions I heard, there was some truth to all of them. 8-)

Were both of these mentioned in the recording? I haven't had a chance to listen to all of it, but I've heard about one member who was struck on the face.

It would seem like that media group got ahold of the recording put out Sunday.

DanZ:

Fast forward 20 years:
Mother:
“Remember those men we were with in Haiti?”
Now 10 year old:
“Yes. Wait. What? i thought they were some of our relatives.”

(no, really. i just had a similar chat with my 30 year old son.) children have their own unique perspective. :)
God bless them.
