I don't think anyone here it talking about leading an armed commando raid. We are talking about what we would do if our own families were being held for ransom.nett wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:42 pmDo you think those tortured and killed for the sake of the gospel that are documented in the Martyr's Mirror had that same struggle?justme wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:20 pm if i was the one kidnapped, i would many different emotions to work thru.
not the least would be that i would have a hard time processing the fact that my family doesn't care enough about me to want to attempt to get me out of that situation.
it's easy to say, don't reward the kidnappers for bad behavior. but i think that i would have a very hard time if my family didn't attempt to pay the ransom. if they said, sorry, we aren't being blackmailed like that, you are on your own. (i would hear, you aren't worth it to me.)
Where do you draw the line with this kind of thinking? Should we all grab our guns and head to Haiti to free them?
What does the bible say about paying ransom? Here is one verse: " If a ransom is demanded of him, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatever is demanded of him." (Exodus 21:30)
