Re: Coronavirus Outbreak

We just had a friend who got Covid, and he asked his doctor for a Ivermectin prescription. The doctor reluctantly prescribed it. When he attampted to get it filled he was refused. His wife (who went for the prescription) was asked if the Ivermectin was being prescribed for Covid and when she said, yes, they refused to fill it. They searched around and found that Wal-Mart would fill the prescription. Within a few hours of taking it, he began to feel better.

I am confused why, when there are proven medications such as Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine to be very effective against Covid, they are refused.

Would be interesting if vaccines were held to the same high standards as ivermectin.

Because ultimately the vaccines are just a pretext for implementing vaccine passports & a social credit system, that's why. (Imo, of course!) :D

I expect they were both tested using fetal stem cells (as are virtually all such drugs these days). So I would assume that anyone who opposes the Covid vaccines on religious grounds would also be opposed to both of these two therapies as well.
Yes. Do you have a problem with that?

That’s why some of us prefer older, safe therapies like ivermectin.
The problem is that Ivermectin, Remdesivir, and Hydrodcychloroquine also all have had fetal cell line HEK-293 used in their testing (as have virtually every modern medicine including aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, Sudafed, Benadryl, Lidocaine, Pepto Bismol, Maalox, Tums, Lipitor, Toprol, etc., etc., etc.). To be consistent on this point, you'd have to reject almost any medicine that has been developed or tested over the past 50 years. The use of aborted fetal cell lines is a societal wrong for sure (hopefully pressure for more ethical testing methods will grow), but at this point in history, it is virtually impossible to morally disentangle modern medicine from fetal cell line usage. [At a larger level, it is a reminder of the complexity of life in a fallen world]

Perhaps, Josh, in the end, this is an argument for Old Order folk remedies and homeopathic treatments.

The death rate gap from Covid between Red and Blue counties grew faster in October than in any previous month.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/08/brie ... ticleShare
In October, 25 out of every 100,000 residents of heavily Trump counties died from Covid, more than three times higher than the rate in heavily Biden counties (7.8 per 100,000). October was the fifth consecutive month that the percentage gap between the death rates in Trump counties and Biden counties widened.

Some conservative writers have tried to claim that the gap may stem from regional differences in weather or age, but those arguments fall apart under scrutiny. (If weather or age were a major reason, the pattern would have begun to appear last year.) The true explanation is straightforward: The vaccines are remarkably effective at preventing severe Covid, and almost 40 percent of Republican adults remain unvaccinated, compared with about 10 percent of Democratic adults.

Charles Gaba, a Democratic health care analyst, has pointed out that the gap is also evident at finer gradations of political analysis: Counties where Trump received at least 70 percent of the vote have an even higher average Covid death toll than counties where Trump won at least 60 percent.

As a result, Covid deaths have been concentrated in counties outside of major metropolitan areas. Many of these are in red states, while others are in red parts of blue or purple states, like Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Virginia and even California.

Taking one snapshot out of the entire pandemic can easily justify any position. What are the overall numbers and trends?

It's a trend that has emerged over the past five months. As the article noted, the difference last year (before vaccines) between Red and Blue counties was neligible.

I could not read the article since it was behind a paywall. Might be better in the future not to post articles behind paywalls.

The is NYT, so I will wait to see if their numbers are real or made up.

Another option.

https://www.newsmax.com/finance/streett ... d/1043700/
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc said on Monday a single dose of its antibody cocktail reduced the risk of contracting COVID-19 by 81.6% in the two to eight months period following the drug's administration in a late-stage trial.

The results showed that antibody therapy, REGEN-COV, has the potential to provide long-lasting immunity from COVID-19 infection, said Myron Cohen, who leads monoclonal antibody efforts for the U.S. National Institutes of Health-sponsored COVID Prevention Network.

Such immunity is particularly important for immunocompromised people and those not responding to vaccines, the company said.

Two ways that I get past paywalls.

First, try to open the article in an “incognito tab” using Chrome which often works.
Second, copy and past the URL into a website like http://outline.com which strips out the cookies, ads, and garbage and usually lets you view the text.

I don’t know if any of those work with the NYT since I have a subscription through work. But that is how I generally view things that are paywalled. There are a few paywalls that are pretty uncrackable, but those two methods work with the majority. And no, I don’t feel guilty using either one. Paywalls usually rely on the web site putting cookies on your machine without asking. I feel no need to accommodate that sort of behavior by corporate web sites.
