Many are conjecturing that this story was part of the reason for a Republican win in yesterday's gubernatorial election in Virginia. I don't know what the "daily dot" is, but the site has a story citing various sources who credit the Daily Wire story with helping to elect Youngkin.

I had to smile at the last sentence in the article: "Many consider it unethical for media outlets to function as an apparatus of a political campaign".

What media outlet doesn't function as a political campaign these days? They all do whether they are conservative or liberal, some more so than others.

I've heard some of that and I think that the campaign did attempt to use the story. However, I'm also seeing that the general frustration with how public schools have handled the pandameic played a far bigger role in the election.

Somewhere I saw that the economy was issue #1 which is typically a big issue for voters. I assume that high gas prices and inflation probably affect a broader range of voters than culture war issues, important as those may be to the culture warriors.

And Virginians don't want vaccine mandates? Because Youngkin made it clear that he would not order vaccine mandates.

This made me chuckle:
Facebook, it’s now widely accepted, has been a calamity for the world. The obvious solution, most people would agree, is to get rid of Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg has a different idea: Get rid of the world.
