The old woodcutter spoke again. “It is impossible to talk with you. You always draw conclusions. Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. You see only a fragment. Unless you know the whole story, how can you judge?"
No judging, just facts. The president was inside a restaurant without a mask, a clear violation to the DC requirements.

Washington DC mask requirements.
Masking rules:
Everyone (including fully vaccinated people) must wear masks:

• UPDATE: in indoor public settings
This includes any business or establishment open to members of the public (including
but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants and bars (when not eating or drinking),
places of worship, gyms, office buildings, libraries, indoor entertainment venues.

Part of being President means following the letter of the law that you also enforce on other people.

In a third world banana republic, the President and other government officials are above the law, like Gov Newsom dining at the French Laundry indoors with no mask, the mayor of SF going to a nightclub with no mask, or Biden walking around a restaurant with no mask.

If they don’t obey their own ordinances, it’s hard to understand why I need to.

Do you wear a mask as often as they do?

People could justify driving more than the speed limit based on how they see me drive occasionally, but I would challenge them to drive as close to the speed limit as I normally do and would apologize for those times when I exceeded what is tolerated by the police.

I’m not the one threatening people with violent force if they don’t wear a mask. Gov Newsom and Pres. Biden are.

Therefore, they need to live by their own rules, which they have made up, without the consent of the people or the people’s elected representatives who pass laws.

In Ohio, our own governor was very diligent to obey mask rules even tho they were partially voluntary. I, too, voluntarily complied with them back in March-April of last year. If he had been busy going to fundraising suppers whilst scolding the rest of us for not wearing masks, why should I have followed his commands?

I confess I also find it irritating when people in positions of power don't follow their own mandates. Even if they are human and can't be expected to be perfect. It helps when they don't expect something out of others that they don't put on themselves.

Looks like the flu vaccine is now being mandated at the University of Denver. If you can mandate a vaccine for Covid, why not for the flu? What's next?

It is a small private university, formerly Methodist I believe. They can do whatever they want.

Flu vaccine exemptions have been allowed for years and its been acceptable to wear a mask during flu season. There was a big uproar in Canada one year over it being called shaming and not actually supported by science. They listed off several reasons why a surgical mask was poorly suited for the flu virus https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ ... -1.3222702
I suppose one could dig around for the research but I don't overly care that much at this point.

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy ... n-calls-it
Two weeks after National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins announced his retirement, his agency has complicated congressional testimony by Collins and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci about alleged gain-of-function virus research sponsored by the U.S.

Both officials have denied approving grants for such research through the EcoHealth Alliance and Wuhan Institute of Virology, but a letter Wednesday from NIH Principal Deputy Director Lawrence Tabak to House Oversight Committee ranking Republican James Comer describes an unforeseen experimental result that calls the denials into question.

The letter shows that "NIH — and specifically, Collins, Fauci, and Tabak — lied to Congress, lied to the press, and lied to the public," Richard Ebright, lab director at Rutgers University's Waskman Institute of Microbiology, tweeted Wednesday night when sharing the letter. "Knowingly. Willfully. Brazenly."
