Yesterday I was considering,

How should I pray...
How should we pray...
How should the church pray...

At an anointing service yesterday morning, we talked about how "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much". Am I righteous? Do I pray effectually?

And then I think about the church making non-stop prayer for Peter while he was in prison. What did they pray? Were they praying for him to be faithful under testing? Were they praying he would not be killed? It appears that they were not praying that he would be released from prison...

We should not be surprised if God allows his people to suffer. We should not be surprised if God does something completely beyond our comprehension.

CAM's new director-in-training and his wife arrived in Haiti this morning.

As reporters get names of the kidnapped, they are calling any numbers that they can get ahold of whether it be relatives, in-laws, CAM employees, etc.

Of course they are -- that's their job. It might make sense to have a conversation within the community over whether you want to engage the media or whether its better to say "no comment."

It's a question of how much the community wants its own pain in this crisis exposed to the outside world.

Without knowing much of the details, that reads like pretty excellent and comprehensive reporting. They certainly did their research. Did they get anything wrong? I liked that they provided extensive background info on Haiti mission work rather than sensationalizing the victims involved or their families.

I'm struck by the power of the witness of these missionaries. Even in very secular articles about them.
