I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Re: Are we in the tribulation?
So if Jesus said His followers will have tribulation and we are not, what kind of follower does this make us ? Or is this a statement made to a select group at this time ?ohio jones wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 12:40 amI have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. I think the question here is about what has often been phrased as 'The Great Tribulation' meaning a 7 year period. There are many over the years that think we are in this Great Tribulation, at least the first half of it. But it didn't turn out that way. Just like the expectations and dating of Christ's return.
To me, our focus is more to be that our next breath may be our last one and then as Christians we will be judged someday for our performance as Christians. This is quite sobering when thought about. Or can we say with Paul, I have run a good race and expect the reward that comes from that ?

Re: Are we in the tribulation?
oddly, i think there have been numerous times when things on earth were much worse.
our brains are not prepared for the VOLUME of mental assault the internet is so very efficient at dispersing.
pagans on steroids.
it reflects the power of suggestion, of propaganda, of various forms of torture (not all are physical, some are self-inflicted).
from what i can surmise, the brains we have today are pretty much the same as they’ve ever been.
it’s not as tho our brains have changed alongside technology. if so, i would guess change leans toward devolving, not evolving.
history causes a person to wonder. a lot of great things happened in history. that i’m not sure the contemporary world is up to.
“free stuff” isn’t exactly inspired thinking.

Yes, we have tribulations in this sinful world sometimes. When your children are killed, when your family is fighting in court, when disabilities overwhelm a family member, these feel like tribulations. We will be opposed, get sick, and die. It's the state of the world until Christ returns.

If that's the case, why not just get off the internet.temporal1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 12:16 pm

when wheels were first discovered, i imagine many-a cabbage cart went careening off cliffs - before brakes were invented.
i see this period as a painful and expensive learning curve.
as happens with most new discoveries+tools.
the internet is just another tool to be understood and developed. it has no soul or conscience of its own.
i respect those who choose to reject it. i respect those who strive to use tools for good purposes.
from reading your posts, i believe you are among the latter. so, thank you.
