I have seen that idea in some of the research I've done on Ivermectin. I was dreading the outcomes when I read about the first Covid cases reaching Liberia. Strangely, the outcomes have been far better than much of the rest of the world.
I wonder if any of that is because HCQ is being used as a Malaria prophylactic and the side benefit is Covid protection.

It could be because of being in a dry arid region and strong UVs from the sun.

I hope someday someone will do a study on this.

West Africa has 6 months of rainy season and 6 months of dry season and they've been through both since the pandemic began.

Considering they won't even do a legit study on Ivermectin, I wouldn't count on it.

Very curious indeed. It could be that what passes as “quality healthcare” by Westerners in 2021 actually isn’t, like putting people on ventilators that kill them, giving vaccines that don’t prevent a disease, and refusing simple treatments they work.

Africa is a huge consumer of ivermectin. That might be why covid is so rare there.
Yes, interestingly, regarding our "quality healthcare." My boss is a director at a hospital, has been a nurse himself for a couple decades, and his mother "almost died" with a terrible case. I asked if she went to the hospital, he said, and I quote: "No I never allowed her to go to the hospital because people with Covid die in hospitals. I have seen it too often. They have a better chance at home where they still have to get up and walk around and be somewhat functional. Once they come to a hospital and lay flat on their back with high flow forced oxygen on, it makes things worse, I swear to you"

A bit unsettling that an experienced medical professional at a high level in a hospital system would not send one of his most loved next of kin to a hospital for care, despite believing she was nearly dying from an illness.

Yes. If you have little to no national infrastructure for testing and reporting covid, you get to be "untouched by covid."

Is there an increase in deaths in Haiti? And it’s not accurate to say it has no infrastructure. Actually it’s a culture where people tend to go to the hospital when their kids have a cold, or at least that’s my wife said after her last visit down there.

Their President didn’t want to concede to the terms America (and Pfizer) wanted for vaccines, but he got assassinated.

I did not say Haiti has no infrastructure.

I don't keep up with Haiti news but do keep up with Liberia news pretty much on a weekly basis and there just hasn't been a lot of talk about Covid or lots of excess deaths like there was when Ebola was ravaging the country.

Ivermectin is primarily used to treat parasites, including lice, scabies, river blindness, and a whole assortment of intestinal worms. Those are all far more prevalent in Africa than any place else in the world. So it would be shocking if Africa wasn't a huge consumer of Ivermectin.

As for using it to treat Covid? Perhaps what is really happening is that people across the developing world are being forced to resort to alternative therapies because they have been unable to procure sufficient quantities of vaccine to immunize their populations. I expect that if you interviewed doctors and public health officials in every African country and gave them a choice between a supply of vaccine sufficient to treat their entire population, or a supply of Ivermectin to treat their entire population the answer would be deafening and unanimous.
