Responses can be either respecting one another or letting the ego/flesh take over. And that is my view, YMMV, and you could be right and me wrong. I'm pretty sure this has been true somewhere, sometime.
Supreme Manager of the Universe Syndrome... my wife has an aunt who is that way. If you don't abide by her opinion, you're "out of God's will." There is no debating it. She is also a very miserable person. Sadly, some of her children are becoming the same way.

I believe that there is a slang or vernacular term for this behavior: control freak. In professional circles it is called micromanagers. The more defined the personal agenda of the controlling personality, the more intense the micromanaging.

Of course, people do not like to be controlled or micromanaged and respond in kind or with open hostility. Pushback is a very real behavior in human culture.

That's why I use scripture.... if people disagree, they can take it up with God.... Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

I agree that scripture is good to back up our statements but we can also misuse scripture. Things can be taken out of context to mean something far different than what the intention of the writer was and some things may not be applicable to everyone in all places for all time. But I think basing our thoughts on scripture is a good way to check out what is being presented.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Tim 2:15

In Brazilian Portuguese, it is "Manda Chuva" - literally, a person who commands the rain.

We can do better than this!

Well. R Kipling did a good job of describing it, with his imaginative words: :D

How sad the world is, no longer producing R Kiplings or other literary greats.
The world as we now know it, “The Information Age,” seems to kill spirits more effectively than times before.
A big loss.

I liked both of these posts. Scripture is infallible, my interpretation of Scripture is not. Looking at Scripture together from different perspectives can be a great way of getting past where we started.
