I guess it depends on what you mean by "having a plan". I interact with many people who fly by the seat of their pants.
They have a very sketchy plan at most (and even this one can change by the hour), but the lack of a concrete plan can make for a lot of burned out people and a lot of chaos. And then anyone else who wants to try something similar, gets told "no", because of how chaotic everything was with the first initiative.

You need to provide security, vetting and provide the crew for repairs for the plane and an area surrounding it to prevent them from being shot down during take off. Any time a plane flies off from a warzone... its got a chance of destruction.
I understand it is not an easy matter. I did not say it was easy. Rather that the US has the capability.
The point I am making is that there was no plan to even attempt such an evacuation if needed. They had a plan to airlift people gradually over a number of months at the end of the mission, rather than starting a year ago. But they had no plan for doing this in a hurry at the last minute, if it came to that. It was the one contingency they hadn't prepared for - one that Vietnam could have taught them.
It sounds like the US plans to lift about 13,000 in the next 24 hours. At this rate it can lift 92,000 out in the next week.

I was not aware that CNN links were not allowed on MN.

Is New York Post a credible source?

Or Iheart?

Or WLFI?

Or GoodWorld News?

When our news business publishes information, we only like to publish news that is commonly agreed upon by both right leaning and left leaning news sources. Left leaning and right leaning news sources are happy to call the other out for misinformation if they publish something that is inaccurate.

cnn.com and msnbc.com are currently blacklisted because of their intentional distortion and misleading information.

The other sources are fine. Thanks for taking the time to post them.

If the average voter actually knew about the civil rights records of Biden as a United States Senator and Harris as Attorney General of California, they would be appalled.

Is it any surprise that these same people botched the withdrawal from Afghanistan so badly and don’t seem to care about the suffering it’s causing?

Both parties have failed the American people. May God have mercy on our nation.

Just as the prophets lamented over the sins of Israel, Americans can lament for their own nation's sins today.

Is there any evidence Afghanistan is in a “civil war” or that any refugees even legitimately need evacuating?

The Taliban isn’t engaging in violence, isn’t attacking the U.S,. and there is no humanitarian crisis. They’re letting foreigners leave, if they want to. Why do Afghans need to be evacuated from Afghanistan?

The Taliban take care of their problems. It may not be being talked about but everyone knew the Americans were for a time and then the Taliban would be back... chose your side carefully.

The Taliban being in charge of Afghanistan seems no different to me than the Democrats being in charge of America. Sure, some people complain about it, but that hardly seems a reason to demand to be a refugee who migrates to a wealthy Western country.
