I have had the same problem sorting out my past experience. You realized you have been controlled and try to voice it only to be shut down while you're speaking by someone saying, "So, that doesn't sound horrible. You probably just want worldly things."
Well, let's ask where it ended: do you regularly watch movies?
What does that have to do with the discussion? :?:

Do you regularly admit you are wrong or that others may have a valid point?

It has quite a bit to do with it. Do you think a body of believers gets closer to Jesus when they spend more time watching worldly movies?

Yes, and on an almost daily basis. You should see the people I work with!

i totally agree.
So, does this mean it's impossible to ever notice or call out improper behaviour?
no, it does not mean that it is impossible to ever notice or call out improper behavior.

When does it end?
Only when the leadership has complete control. But it's politics, anyway, not spirituality. Control and power. And if you dont play the game, you get pushed out. Especially if you are ordained.

We currently have regulation or expectations on about all of these. I can certainly understand that if someone is wholesale against anything such as these, they for sure won’t appreciate R&S and Cory A. And I suppose at a larger degree of separation, I can understand the difficulty of appreciating these once someone has finally rejected R&S-esque church life.

So, does this mean it's impossible to ever notice or call out improper behaviour? It sounds like the standard is that if you notice someone is living in sin, or getting close to it, it's "impure" to notice and even worse to speak up.

By the way, folks, this is how abuse happens. Because people are afraid to speak up or notice.
of course you can call out improper behavior. Many of us here are. Speaking up against spiritual abuse we witnesses and were subject to.

Here's something interesting. We left the church where I was raised immediately after we were married. It was 10 years before a minister's number could show up on my phone without causing a full blown panic attack. Why would that be? I was, for the record, a member in good standing at the church in which I was raised til we left. I don't believe I ever even had a forced confession, tho it was very close one time. I just said I'd be happy to as long as the playing field was level and so and so's son would have to confess as well for breaking the same rule. The matter went away.

But when sexual abuse is discovered and spoken against in those churches, then what happens? I know the answer, unfortunately.
