A few thoughts on why the CRT rightwing/political brouhaha is the wrong fight for the church. We need not get taken into the right-wing political fray as the kingdoms of this world duke it out over various bogeymen. (I wrote a variation of this text, with some additional thoughts, awhile ago in response to an article published by the S and T.)

Re: We don't need to be afraid of CRT
Thanks for your thoughts. I think it is an excellent contribution to the discussion. I have not paid much attention to CRT and other buzzwords like "intersectionality" because I don't tend to focus much on theory. But as a teacher I have thought a lot how systemic racism affects education in this country in real and concrete ways. It is most definitely a real thing and an immense problem as we seek to create a more fair and equitable society.

Could you elaborate on why you think getting taken into the left-wing political fray is the right fight for the church? Or else, clarify that that’s not your position?joshuabgood wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 10:45 am A few thoughts on why the CRT rightwing/political brouhaha is the wrong fight for the church. Sure. The left wing political fray is also not the right fight. The reason I called out "the right" is because that is the angle that we as CA's seem more prone to.Josh wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:41 amCould you elaborate on why you think getting taken into the left-wing political fray is the right fight for the church? And the left wing ditch is one many A’s in my circles fall into (and quite a few CA’s as well). Your refusal to speak against left wing factions combined with a strong focus on loudly denounce right wing factions calls into question if you might just be part of such factions yourself.joshuabgood wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:43 amSure. Re: We don't need to be afraid of CRT
Are you asking me to "denounce" left wing factions to prove something to you? Ok. I denounce violent Marxist revolutions. I denounce Castro's Cuban abuses. I denounce the organization BLM and it's radical ungodly tenants around sexuality, theories of change, etc. I denounce "free stuff" for everyone and universal basic income. I denounce abortion and Planned Parenthood. I denounce the San Francisco's Gay Men's choir coming for our children.Josh wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:45 amAnd the left wing ditch is one many A’s in my circles fall into (and quite a few CA’s as well). I have never voted for one single leftwing position, idea, or candidate.

Re: We don't need to be afraid of CRT
Did you read the same article that I did? All Joshua wrote is that racism does in fact exist in various forms and that the church should come to grips with racism in its midst. How is that "getting taken into the left-wing political fray"? Do you seriously think that racism in our society is not a real thing but rather some sort of left-wing plot to make you feel bad about yourself?Josh wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:41 amCould you elaborate on why you think getting taken into the left-wing political fray is the right fight for the church? Re: We don't need to be afraid of CRT
i don’t detect fear (of anything) in either Voddie Baucham or Thomas Sowell.
But a lot of thoughtful observation, study, effort to view the world in balance, for positive end goals.
VB states systemic racism claims are part of CRT.
He is a former Buddhist, TS is a former Marxist. Fascinating guys, the mainstream ignores: “Don’t confuse us with facts.”

You can say under certain conditions even.
Why is this so difficult for you! You and Ken keep telling us they're just a bunch of nerdy academics who have no effect in the real world. Shouldn't your answer just be "sure why not, what could it hurt?"
Voddie Baucham / “Systemic racism in America”
Thomas Sowell / “Systemic racism has no meaning”
Thomas Sowell / “Intellectuals and Society” / Part 1 of 5
Both men have more to offer, these are short out takes.

Re: We don't need to be afraid of CRT
This is based upon a much longer ongoing conversation with joshgood where he essentially started advocating for left wing positions about a year and a half ago. (Somewhat entertainingly, in the distant past he was much more stereotypically right wing - which is why I always caution that mainstream right wing people eventually produce leftists.)Ken wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 12:07 pmDid you read the same article that I did? Re: We don't need to be afraid of CRT
Racism is a non-issue for a born again, Spirit filled and lead Christian. The more we see ourselves as strangers, aliens and ambassadors of a Kingdom, not of this world, I believe we will not concern ourselves with how the world tries to fix itself outside of knowing and following Christ. The answer has and always will be the same. Be born of the Spirit and God will, through His Spirit, lead us in living a Kingdom way of life regardless of whatever setting we find ourselves in.
There seems to be too much 'left' and 'right' talk about worldly systems when we need more of an 'up' and 'down' concern about our relationship with God and how He can change us and those who are our neighbour's.
YMMV.
