This stuff has been coming across on my feed as well.

So... are you asking if the material is acceptable? Or posting said material on social media is acceptable?

If people still practice that stuff.

I lived it. It was, in my mind, spiritual abuse. It does not bother me that it is exposed for what it is.

Wasn't there one circulating recently on how newly weds should behave on their wedding trip? Or am I thinking of something else??

"By Thy Words" is coming across in my Facebook as well. The person who runs "By Thy Words" is posting photos of excerpts from books published by Conservative Mennonite publications. Many of them are guidelines for dating, weddings, activities etc. The comments usually end up trolling and trashing these churches. Although I don't agree with many of the tenants of what is being promoted in these Conservative Mennonite churches, I question the motive of trashing the churches and the people attending them. If the people have been truly redeemed and broke free from the clutches of these churches by the grace of God, as they claim, why do they have the need to trash and denigrate ?

It is interesting that the person promoting "By Thy Words" refuses to reveal who they are. Just my opinion, but that seems a bit cowardly.

The person stated they didn't want to reveal their identity because they figured people would find a way to discount what they are saying.

Like I said I lived what they are saying. Down to the nitty gritties about what we could or could not do during our courtship and marriage. (Shudders at being told how often...).

This has to be the same thing. Without looking, I'm pretty sure its being shared by someone we're friends with on FB, but didn't originate with them.

And yes, some of the material is quite disturbing.

Which means they don't reveal their identify because what they are doing, is easily discounted. Just seems cowardly to me.

In the past I have been part of a very conservative church with lots of rules and guidelines. We left many years ago and I can testify that forgiveness is very healing with the help of the Lord. "By Thy Words" does NOT promote forgiveness and loving our brothers and sisters who are a still part of these churches. It only stirs up Strife.

"1 Timothy 6:3-5 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain."

I do get your point, Grace.

However how do you address these issues of spiritual abuse. You came out the other side apparently unscathed. Some are not so fortunate. And some are still there.

To say something bothers people, so we just let it keep happening?

The majority of the time people in those settings don't know they are being abused. I think that is why so many of us "transplants" don't survive in those settings. Don't know how to explain it....
