All of this, and more - the most important factor being, the sincerely repentant would refuse to be left alone with children, of his own decision. This has not been an uncommon statement on this forum, even specific to JMast.

Not unlike a recovered/recovering alcoholic refusing alcohol.
He may have the legal choice+opportunity to drink, he regains trust by self-imposed restrictions IN ADDITION TO whatever other legal and church and social requirements.

i’m glad to know. i would have never guessed.
i see the book as helpful in understanding God’s response to sin of any description. it’s been increasingly important to me over years of confusion and disbelief (on my part) about what it’s saying.

now, above, the added note that JMast’s sins were known before marriage brings more - to think about.
altho, i will say, if sinners were not allowed to marry, marriage would be quite a rare thing.

thing is about marriage contracts/vows, they represent a new beginning. they are not meant to underwrite sin.
they specifically preclude fornication and adultery, carnal sins.

i would not presume anyone marrying a sinner would be expected to marry the sin.

I just read the following by Rick Ashley on Facebook:

HAITI UPDATE: August, 02, 2021 Timeline today..

Stay tuned for an update to share how Christian Aid Ministries better know as CAM has once again allowed the 4 Titantyan Victims to be abused!
Many following this awful story of cover up and paying these boys off who have no understanding of management of monies…are in dire straits…no money for food,;still no psychological/mental health care; promised copies of the documents they signed when paid hush monies; thus losing their legal representation in Haiti, wrong, wrong, so wrong!
The youngest of the Victims, reached out to me last evening (8-1-21) begging me for money for food, in the video on WhatsApp his mommy joins in, she too too needs psychological care….then I’m asked to help with paying for his school tuition, uniform, and books…$350 for the upcoming school year…seems CAM refuses to pay as promised…what really doesn’t make sense is that CAM’s new point guy in Haiti seems to be giving aid and food to the local gangs..but will not even allow a meeting with these boys who have been once again abused by a organization that has a vast supply of food and resources!
This same “new” country director recently fired all the Haitian CAM employees…..some 24 plus years of service! In a speech while dismissing them and verbally calling them pigs and that pigs always returned to where the food supply was…and then in these employees recount say he threatened them..these employees will go on record to these facts….WHY?? They can get by with it..no accountability!
CAM seems to only respond and take action when they exposed and are called out…HELLO those of you who know the powers to be in Ohio at CAM can call and or share these Boys urgent needs….who where molested by CAm’s Missionary and then allowed to return by the CAM board and repeat his actions need to resolve these boys needs as well as the many other Victims throughout Haiti….even they say in excess of 50 victims!
In Pennsylvania in CAM booth (PA Haiti Benefit Auction ) several weeks ago I discussed these concerns with someone who knew very well my being an advocate for these victim’s…though I might get a call from the Headquarters in Ohio, but silence!
I’ve been helping with food for the boys and take their text messy and calls and have tried to return to Haiti but with the unrest I haven’t returned…
I’m asking those in the Anabaptist faith to demand action and transparency as well as accountability and share this post to hopefully get CAM to take action, please!
This same boy who was so shamed by his abuse asking for help with food and schooling tuition (I think his last year) is the same boy who the Haitian Psycologist lady doctor (Dr. Wendy) said was so badly sexually abused he might need hospital care…then CAM offered the $10,000 hush monies to get the Titantyan boys to loss their legal representation in Haiti…hopefully the US will not allow Jeriah Mast to go Scott Free after he serves his time in Ohio for his crimes! CAM needs to take immediate action …again these boys deserve better! Please pray for them, God knows their names!
The memory posted and attached with timeline happened before CAM’s Haitian Lawyers interference in their offering these boys $$$$$$ took place…I’ve remained silent too long and I will not be intimidated any longer..enough is enough!
Those in the Anabaptist faith who don’t believe that CAM paid these Victims in Titantyan, as well as an out of court settlement in Peiti Goave Haiti, I suggest you ask CAM for the press release or Haiti Update post, that they posted but kept somewhat hidden.
My need to remain a Advocate on their behalf is renewed and they are begging for my assistance!

Do you have any knowledge regarding what organization Rick Ashley is serving with as an advocate? Or is he working independently?
Though his name sounds familiar, I'm unable to place him.

I generally take anyone asking directly for money with a grain of salt, particularly in Haiti. There is a feeding frenzy around CAM of people who see deep pockets and want to get their hands in them (some of whom may even be lurking here on MennoNet).

You mean people employed with CAM want to get into deep pockets, right?

No, I don't. Most people employed with CAM don't even make that much money.

People are circling around CAM, demanding CAM pay them money for various reasons, or offering to help "facilitate" payments to victims. An organisation with a $100 million budget is going to attract a lot of bad actors.

Or did I miss a joke about CAM's fundraising practices? (I seem to have gotten off their mailing list, maybe they think I'm not making good money anymore.)

To my knowledge he doesn't serve with any agency as a formal victim's advocate. He has some connections to Haiti as mentioned in this Facebook post.

There is seemingly no end of people who are eager to get into the Haiti money trough. Most of them do not have good intentions.
