I wonder how many, if any, deaths are occurring in people who previously had COVID. It would be interesting to see how actually having had the virus compares in terms of preventing infection and death with the vaccine. We would need to know the data from these four groups of people who have gotten infected:
People who have had neither the virus nor the vaccine.
People who have had the virus but not the vaccine.
People who have had the vaccine but not the virus.
People who have both had the virus and the vaccine.
That is an excellent question and I haven't seen any reporting providing any answers. It would be very informative to see an actual legitimate scientific comparison of the efficacy of vaccines vs the natural immunity conferred from having had the disease.
I would assume that both having had the virus and the vaccine would bring the likelihood of contracting the virus down to almost nothing. But it would be interesting to see data. My guess is that as the virus passes, so will the interest in collecting data, so we may not ever get the numbers. As the article you posted says, some states are more aggressive in pursuing data.
I did read something somewhere that said some medical experts were recommending just one shot for those who have already had Covid, not the regular 2-shot regime of Pfizer or Moderna. The idea was that one shot was enough of a booster to provide near 100% immunity for those who have already had the disease. But I don't know if that was something that has been studied in any systematic way or if it was just the notion of some doctors or researchers.
The CDC web site doesn't actually address this topic. They just generally recommend the vaccine even for those who have had Covid. Personally I think if I had already had Covid I would probably get at least one shot as a booster and probably not worry so much about getting the second. At least not anytime soon. I expect the continued evolution of new variants are going to make boosters necessary at some point in the future anyway. At least for those who want to stay protected.

If shots are designed+distributed based on 2 shots, and, shelf life is an important factor, there is potential for significant waste by those just deciding to get 1 shot.
These matters, supply and shelf-life, were emphasized when I got mine in Feb+March.
Messages change rapidly.
I chose to have the vaccine when it was offered. I have no idea if it was the right choice. I don’t expect to know.
Thank you for sharing. I have read too many articles and listened to too many experts about this topic to not agree with this particular one. These are the warnings we've been hearing against the vaccine. There is no possible way these medical experts would have any good reason to prevent people from getting the vaccine for personal gain. Think about it
I got my second shot yesterday. I think it is quite funny that for a year some were screaming about the vaccine would not be any good and they would not trust it because of a certain president are the ones now screaming at everyone to get the shot.

It has not been FDA approved and they did use fetal cells in the process. I will wait until it receives FDA approval before I even consider the ethics of it.

When the FDA approves it I may. Most likely will not. I never got a flu shot either. Until it has been approved, I will not for sure.

I was forced to because I have to go on a government military base next week and have to be vaccinated to do so. I stated that once before, but I am sure it was easy to miss.
I still feel the same way and would not have gotten the vaccine if I was not forced to do so to enter the site.

You know some odd people. I don't know anyone who meets that description.
I know there were some people who were concerned that the vaccines would be rushed into production without adequate testing for political reasons. But when that didn't happen, and the Trump FDA insisted that the entire testing process run its course through the 2020 election without regard to politics, they relaxed about it.
I don't think anyone believes that Trump or Biden are out there with lab coats on, mixing up vaccine reagents and developing vaccines. It is the same companies and scientists doing the work regardless of who is president. And they are all private companies. Unlike Russia and China, there is no US-government developed vaccine. All the US government really did is provide seed money and guaranteed contracts to stimulate private efforts and streamline some of the approval bureaucracy.

Apparently our brilliant (sic) Vice President might have thought so.
