It will be so nice when the Kingdom fully comes and ALL killing ends. As I got older any enjoyment I once had to kill something that was in my way of living or to prove my marksman ability has greatly lessened. If try to conserve one specie by killing another who is preying on that specie it isn't something I enjoy. I can see why some become vegetarians. Maybe I should try the Seventh Day Adventists in my next group for fellowship.

LOL, before someone sics the ATF and the FBI on us, maybe this website will explain the type of bombs I put in the groundhog holes.

I’d actually prefer my neighbours to take a clean shot at a groundhog. Why are your neighbours ours busybodies?
They are busybodies, but you can't pick your neighbors. They are not Christians and watch us rather closely. Even though they are NOT very good neighbors we try our best to be good neighbors to them. They are very strong on animal rights and shooting groundhogs is to obvious. Any treatment of the groundhogs, on our part, has to be covert, not overt. But at this point the used, stinky , cat litter seems to send the groundhogs elsewhere.

Well, at least it chose the right thread to show up in.

Re: Responsible parenting, responsible adults.

Are things really that different today than in previous generations?

In my parents generation, kids went off to war or factory jobs in the cities whether or not their parents approved. My dad left home at age 17 and drove a motorcycle across the country in the early 1950s without parental approval. Later in the 1960s, kids hitch hiked off to California and places like that to join the "youth culture" long before there was such a thing as cell phones or the internet. One of my aunts left home on the Menno family farm on the back of her boyfriend's motorcycle around 1970 and didn't come back for years.

In the 19th Century when child labor was rampant, kids would go off to work in the farms and factories, join the Union or Confederate armies, or just leave home and head west, get on sailing ships, or whatever I recently found out that my great, great grandfather was working as a cook for the Union Army in Washington DC at age 16 at the end of the Civil War. After leaving the family farm in Ohio behind to his parent's apparent dismay.

The world has always beaconed.

I think you mischaracterize how things were in the past.

just because you jump to poor conclusions about my intent, does not make my words invalid.
even with your pathetic copy+pastes.

i see no need to dignify your attacks with response. you’ve made it clear how you’ve type-cast me. you are nothing if not predictable.
i have no desire to play your nasty games.

No. I just think you tend to make broad-sweeping generalizations to support your world view. Which are often not accurate.

Let us stop deciding what others should say and post and just post what we think.

   I feel people are projecting into what others are saying WAY too much.

Ask a question if you think it sounds too harsh or incorrect instead of being the posting police and correcting the other poster.

If you can't ask a question, then make a statement about what you think or feel using an "I" statement, not a "you" statement.

If you want MN to be less harsh, stop attacking what others are posting.
 Just share YOUR perspective and stop correcting someone else.

So .... why are you projecting ill intent into what Ken says?

Why are you attacking what Ken posts?

Why are you trying to correct Ken?

i’m not sure why anyone would understand Robert’s direction to all forum members (all means all) to be pointed to a few - i don’t.
i definitely understand it to include me, as it should.

i posted the report about the cheerleader. Ken, as usual, chimes in to dismiss it in every way possible. which is ok. his opinion.
he doesn’t leave it there - not toward me, not toward any he assesses as wrong and unworthy.

other members have responded to his many biases against individuals, and/or whole groups of people he openly writes off as unworthy.

i admit a special impatience with him, as he represents typical public school teachers, sanctimoniously influencing thousands of vulnerable students with their personal political and social biases. as such, i don’t envision him as just another crank on the internet. this is my failure.

most peoples’ children today are swimming in a sea of Kens. God have mercy. it’s painful to see it and be so helpless.

when Ken began revealing himself on forum, i thought, great. maybe he will learn not all align with the script he’s bought into. this could lead to positives. people need to listen to one another. nope. he’s not present to learn. in the past, even now, many arrived on forum with sincere interest and questions. now+then not the case.

Ken has type-cast me. and many others. he is straightforward about it. his posts paint a picture of his interests and goals.

i think Robert’s direction is good advice. i don’t claim to master it.

hope that helps. :)

i believe when you ask questions, they are sincere. they deserve response.

"I think you are a bad person" doesn't really qualify as an "I" statement. "I think (s)he is a bad person" isn't much of an improvement.
