Coronavirus Outbreak
Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Talked to my child's nurse practitioner and we felt it would be okay for the boys to get the Covid shot. I will call tomorrow and make arraignments for them. I still do not plan to get one myself.

Over the weekend, Texas reported reaching the milestone of zero deaths from COVID-19 for the first time since March 2020. Arizona, Minnesota, and Massachusetts also recently reported COVID death-free days for the first time in months.
State of play: Other states also posted positive COVID metrics at the top of the week while COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. fell to their lowest in nearly 14 months, Reuters reported.

Apparently Texas lifting their mask mandates did not increase covid deaths.Robert wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 12:27 am https://news.yahoo.com/several-states-r ... 09774.html

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
I talked with our state inspector this morning, and apparently her department (PA Department of Agriculture, which does food facility inspections) is no longer doing any Covid inspections of businesses or following up on complaints by the public about businesses not complying with Covid restrictions. Although PA immediately followed the CDC's relaxation of mask requirements for vaccinated persons, the requirements for everybody else are still in place. These will not be lifted until 70% of the state has been vaccinated, according to the governor. However, my inspector said that large numbers of businesses are not abiding by the mask guidelines already, and my opinion is that compliance will continue to degrade as time goes on, requirements or not. Especially if the state is no longer enforcing the rules.Josh wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 9:19 amApparently Texas lifting their mask mandates did not increase covid deaths.Robert wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 12:27 am https://news.yahoo.com/several-states-r ... 09774.html

My concern is that you are correct and at some point the law would only be followed by those who are trying to uphold the law and end in a very awkward place.mike wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 9:25 am

I've sort of decided that at least in town if not specified by the store, we will stop masking when the emergency orders expire because I don't expect our governor to open the masking laws for non-vaccinated and it will just fade away with time. She is expecting the church to verify vaccination status to be unmasked... fat chance of anyone doing that...

Entering a store unmasked is not “lying” or not complying with any laws. My state is ending its state of emergency and mask orders on June 2.Soloist wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 10:38 amMy concern is that you are correct and at some point the law would only be followed by those who are trying to uphold the law and end in a very awkward place.mike wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 9:25 am

We don’t live in the United States of the CDC and federal CDC orders are not the government I live under. I’m happy to comply with my local government, county, and state.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
A majority of Pennsylvania voters chose yesterday to strip the governor of some of his emergency powers, giving more control to the legislature.
Pennsylvanians were asked to decide on an amendment that would limit a governor's disaster declaration to 21 days. Beyond that, legislative approval would be required.
They also voted on an amendment that would empower state lawmakers to remove the governor's disaster declarations with a two-thirds vote.

Are we sure the vote can be trusted, or should there be an audit to make sure the vote counting was done correctly?mike wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 12:21 pm A majority of Pennsylvania voters chose yesterday to strip the governor of some of his emergency powers, giving more control to the legislature.

What exactly do the signs say?Soloist wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 11:31 amI'm specifically speaking of Oregon.Josh wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 11:04 am

I do not feel a compulsion to comply with every sign I see. Nor is it “lying” to contravene posted signage.
In California, it is common to see 5 - 10 pages of signage up at every business. Nobody actually reads it all and certainly is not actually complying with it.
