Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
There are things about this man/church that do not inspire confidence and are not a worthy example to be followed. God is the judge, but I think caution is in order more than commendation when it comes to this group.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
I honestly don't know much about him but I would say at this point taking a stand, meeting and suffering for it is commendable. Doctrine might be questionable but I would say I'm not purely orthodox and entering Heaven is not a doctrinal test.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
NOW HOW DOES THIS REALLY WORK?
I wonder how many Canadian churches actually "comply" with a 15% capacity limit?
If a church complies that has only 100 members, do they tell the first 15 members to come in, and the other 85 members stay home?
Does the "complying church" use a "lottery" system, or do they take turns each week by posting a note on the bulletin board about who can come and who can't, or is it the first 15 people who get to slide inside the door, and then the door is locked on the other 85 while they bang on it?
What about visitors that might want to show up without notice, how does that work? Does someone have to leave so a visitor can enter?
Really, how does this "15%" capacity limit actually work for those churches that try to "comply"? 15% is one out of six.
And if they try to go home and do a "home church" with just 6 people that live in the same house, then the 15% capacity mandate would mean that only one of them could be inside the house at a time. That is ridiculous. That means you really cannot have "church" at all.
I must be dumb, but would someone tell me exactly how this 15% is supposed to work? How would you actually comply with this?
Also, is the 15% capacity limit enforced on Walmart, the liquor stores, the grocery store? What about schools, are they only 15% utilized by the kids and the rest stay home? Is anyone from Canada on this forum able to tell what is actually going on up there?
What about the cops, do they follow their own 15% rules?
I bet the cops all ride in the same cop car when they go around and bust up these churches, and the cops don't care at all about their own 15% capacity rating.
Because if they did keep a 15% capacity in their cop cars, that is like 1 out of 6.
So if 6 cops can squeeze together and fit inside a single cop car, to keep the 15% mandate, then only one cop can drive, and the other 5 cops can either walk to church, or ride on the hood or sit on the sirens so they can go to shut down a church. Perhaps two or three could be given a skateboard and a knotted rope, tied to the bumper. That would justice, for sure.
I feel like going to Canada, flagging down a cop car, and doing my Gomer Pyle imitation: "Citizen's Arrest, Citizen's Arrest, Citizen's Arrest!" You forgot your skateboard and knotted rope!

The percentage is based on the occupancy of the building. So if you have a building that's certified for 666 occupants, all 100 church members can attend and be in compliance with the 15% limit.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
It is 15% building capacity, not 15% of members. If a church has 100 members but the total allowable building capacity is 340 people, then all the members can attend in 2 services. SimpleJohnHurt wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 5:32 pm NOW HOW DOES THIS REALLY WORK?

15% wow!! John Canada has different rules from province to province.JohnHurt wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 9:51 pmWe need to start meeting in stadiums.ohio jones wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 9:40 pmThe percentage is based on the occupancy of the building. I tried helping looking into renting as large of place as possible last year for a funeral - no one would go for it because of liability and all the complexity in orders and restrictions. And since then here in BC going on many months now the restrictions are much easier math:
Indoor services are 0% allowable capacity.

This really won't stop any type of virus that can exist on surfaces. The next batch of people will touch the same surfaces.silentreader wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 10:09 pm

This is not about preventing disease.
And they can lower it down to 5% capacity if people are still meeting for church.
Like it or not, the free association of Christians has now entered a political struggle, and popular opinion will decide. Since "separation of Church and State" has been thoroughly indoctrinated into our consciousness, they expect Christians to "roll over" and accept that they can no longer meet together.
As Peter said in Acts 5:29, "We ought to obey God rather than men."
Remember Hebrews 10:(25) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
When Peter and the Apostles were jailed in Acts 5, and released by Divine intervention, they did not cower at home, but went out boldly and taught the people, as the Angel said:
(19) But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
(20) Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
Are we to no longer speak? I understand the pastor in Alymer has been issued citations for speaking about this in public.
When confronted by the "authorities", Peter boldly blamed the authorities for the murder of Christ - to their face - just as he had been preaching openly to the people about who really committed this crime. The "authorities" knew Peter and the other Apostles were teaching who actually murdered Christ to the people. And they hated it.
What example should we follow today?
Who are the "bad guys" here?
This law is not being applied equally. If it were, then other meeting houses of various religions would be in the news. Only Christians?
I am proud to see these good Christian saints stand up and be counted.
As Christ said:
Matthew 10:(17) But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
(18) And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
(19) But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
(20) For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
Matthew 5: (10) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(11) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
(12) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
These are great times. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. Something like this may be the start of a Great Awakening.
If these men can follow non-violence, and not back down before their government, then a great and powerful witness for Christ will be made.

There is interim sanitation done to prevent that from happening. Which is all beside the point right now as the maximum allowed is 10 people.
This is not about preventing disease.
I can only speak for what I can observe in the first person locally, I believe it was about preventing disease in the first place, but it is now about control.
