We did take the dog out first! Lined the inside bottom half with cardboard to stop the drafts.

Why do ask how far away the neighbors are? One is down over the hill, across the road. Can't see the house unless you are out at the road. The other nearest neighbor we can't see the house, though their dog likes to wander over to our place on occasions.

Our chicks are a mixture of brown layers, white layers and Easter Eggers. We are looking forward to having a very colorful egg basket.

Today I will sit back and enjoy the flower boxes I planted yesterday and watch my tree swallows as they are quickly building nests in my bird boxes. Looks like the weather here has taken a turn to be more like spring.

On the other hand, cutting the lawn and cleaning both cars inside and out and perhaps even some window washing will give me some exercise.

I truly have been blessed to have been retired going on 20 years and have so much. I certainly didn't deserve it to be born in such a great spot in this world.

After almost a week of helping our oldest daughter and her husband move, cleaning both homes etc I just rested. My husband helped move a few more things to the dump. But yesterday about did me in- guess I'm feeling my age a bit. This weekend will have family and some of my oldest daughter's friends here to celebrate their son's first b-day. Making the cake and cupcakes tomorrow. So needed this day of rest. Doing almost nothing.

Jewel was our mainstay at Plow Creek Farm. We'd plant thousands of them each year. Now that's gone and I planted just dozens of transplants from a neighbor this year.

Jewel makes some BIG berries and can be quite productive, but it wasn't our tastiest variety.

Earliglow is the best tasting. Very sweet with a strong strawberry flavor. After the first berries, they get small. They have lots of berries so picking is too time-consuming for most commercial growers, but if you are planting less than a thousand feet of row, they're great.

Did you try their foods ? When hubby goes on hunting trips, he really likes the Mountain House Brand dried foods. You can purchase their foods in large quantities as well.
