Re: Today ...
The"shiftless" part can be taken care of with a manual transmission. The boys should learn to drive one anyway.

Re: Today ...
I was too tired last night to right, so actually yesterday...
I'm trying Hügelkultur both for its benefits and to get rid of unsightly yard waste. I shoveled off the raised portion of a small raised bed and kept digging until I had a hole about 2 meters by one meter by 1/2 meter. I cut down a non-bearing mulberry tree and dug up the stump. I put the tree and a big pile of sticks and branches I had in the hole and then covered it up again.
Excellent exercise and the yard looks much better, but I'm still a little sore.

Robert wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 4:51 pm Wednesday, my wife and I looked at the Social Security I would get if I started drawing this year at 62. It would be $1200. If I wait till 66, I can get $1800. So we decided we should wait. We also decided I should look for a part time job to help cover some of the increase of cost to live where we are. The next day I was in the local Ace Hardware. They had a sign up saying they were taking applications. I picked one up. I dropped it off Friday. I got a call in about 30 minutes asking if I could come in Saturday for an interview.
I met the owner at 2 pm today. We visited for about 30 minutes and he offered me a job on the spot. He said he has never done that before, but felt he was being lead in this whole process. He is also a Christian. We talked more about faith then business. Quote a strange interview, but one I will remember for a while.
So I start this coming week. I asked for part time work. Sounds like he needs me full time. I can't do that yet, but can carry a 4 day load for a bit.
So I guess I am no longer a shiftless, unemployed bum. I am just a shiftless bum now.
When to take Soc Sec can be a tough decision.
When i was widowed, the Soc Sec rep strongly advised me to take it early, even tho it was a lesser amount.
She said, there is no way to make up those years of income .. i think she meant, no one knows how long they will live.
Soc Sec allows an amount of income without losing benefits. My brother recently chose Soc Sec, he continues to work part-time. i believe, after age 65, even full time income does not reduce Soc Sec.
For those able, working often has additional non-monetary benefits.
i would not advise one way or another. i advise considering all options.

Re: Today ...
Yes, this is very true. They never seem to go the way a normal interview should go. This one was much stranger, but in a good way.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

Re: Today ...
i have been posting ‘way too much.
totally disgusted with myself. i have no idea what i’m doing. or why.
Today ..
doctor visit. diabetes check. new doctor. former dr left suddenly. no explanation.
i have no idea what to expect.
hopeful. my A1c is now 6.8. it was 7.5 in november.
frankly, for years, i did not believe it was possible. i’m amazed.
my biggest response to the pandemic has been to TRY to improve my health - so, when i see my family again, now nearly 2 years separated, i will be as healthy+strong as i possibly can be.
God in heaven, how i miss them.

Re: Today ...
Today I discovered raspberry plants coming up in an area we mowed off all the briars growing there last fall.
