Largely because of our situation here with our son undergoing Leukemia treatments, my wife & I took the first vaccine this morning. So if I disappear from here, ya'all will know what happened.
We went from there to the county health department to get a few death certificate copies, and I almost wanted to ask for a blank one, so I could be sure it had my name spelled right. (My legal name is Ernest, and a lot of people want to put an 'a' in there, like the word 'earnest'. Reminds me of a dumb joke a college friend tried on me over & over, about "two worms fighting in dead earnest".)

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
400 pages.
i haven’t viewed this thread - in months. intimidated by length.
i haven’t read today. i’m just jumping in with this:
Yesterday .. i visited my pharmacy for routine prescriptions.
The pharmacist greeted me with: “Are you here for the vaccine??”
No. What??!
From everything i’ve read (not much) i thot supplies were MONTHS away. i had no idea this was possible.
My Dr recommended i get the vaccine, my age, and diabetes. ok. i understand. still. i was not expecting it.
They accepted me as their first “walk-in.” A little awkward, not bad.
MODERNA: 1st injection. The 2nd is due next month.
The pharmacist assured me Moderna is “one of the best” vaccines.
It did not hurt. They kept me for 10-15 minutes for observation. No problems.
24 hours later, sore arm. We’ll see. i’m not expecting problems.
For myself, my view is, “what do i have to lose?”
Younger people, those with children, might have more questions.
Time will tell.
i’m not expecting this to be a guarantee of any kind.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
i’ve taken it easy today, did not go for my walk. spent time on forum
not feeling great this evening, but not terrible. hoping it won’t get worse. sore arm. achy.
i’ve now read, the 2nd vaccine may “pack a punch.” i hope not.
well. i literally stumbled onto it, no planning, research, or appointment. i expected to do all of it, wait in line, etc.
i decided to “strike while the iron’s hot.”
i feared i might be attacked on forum - no idea where this thread has been. too afraid to look.

Most gov mandates are EXPERIMENTS, they need EXIT STRATEGIES.
Instead, they too often become NORMALIZED, EXPANDED, WITH EVER-INCREASING COSTS to taxpayers.
Gov does NOT aim to FIX anything. They create CHRONIC, forever problems, forever taking from taxpayers.
It’s incredibly unhealthy - in every sense of the word. Gov has created our present VICTIM culture.
Reward victims - watch the competition to be “The Biggest Victim.” Now done by formally organized blocs+cults.
You cannot make this stuff up.
How to undo it?
Gov is not a for-profit entity.
But, LOADS of gov paid employees, and gov funded (everything-anything) work diligently to ensure their particular CASH COW remains “forever”). Few intentionally put themselves out of business/out of work. Businesses LOVE when gov mandates use of their products/services! Gov guaranteed profits. Think of car seat belts. Guaranteed business.
Today’s key business model focus is lobbying for laws to be crafted to require your product/service be mandated.
Guaranteed business. Why fool around with attempting to be competitive, provide the best for the best price?
All that old-fashioned business incentive stuff?? That’s WORK. And, risk.
RZehr wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 1:16 pm Exit strategies are exceedingly important.
Even when starting a business, you should have a plan for exiting it in a safe, wise, and sane manner.
No one runs a business forever, and no business last forever.
Where I work (as most businesses) everything was chaotic in the beginning of the pandemic. No one knew what was necessary and what wasn't. So businesses were simply left to come up with their own ideas and precautions to limit spread and limit liability. With time, the CDC and local health authorities have come up with recommendations and requirements. What I saw happen at our company was that the CDC and local health recommendations and requirements were simply being added on top of whatever hip shot efforts that we had instituted on our own. New requirements were being followed, but none of the original nonrequired ones were being dropped by us. We had no metric that we were going by to tell us when we could drop ill advised efforts.
Fortunately, we now have dropped all of our hip shot/homemade efforts not required by the local health authority.
So now we have an exit strategy, which is simply to require what is required, and recommend what is recommended by the government.
When something is no longer required, we don't require it.
The problem now is rightly identified that the authorities do not seem to have one.
And them not being a for profit entity, nor vulnerable to competition, have little incentive to develop an exit strategy, much less prioritize it.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Yeah, still here. We had the one called Pfister (or something like that). I had some swelling in the injection area, a small knot. And it was painful for the first day or so, then suddenly gone. But nothing like a rabies shot, which is the most painful shot I have ever had.temporal1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 4:58 amNeto?Neto wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 11:48 am Largely because of our situation here with our son undergoing Leukemia treatments, my wife & I took the first vaccine this morning. Hope it works out better for you than one of my church’s nursing homes in California. They administered the vaccine and then 11 people died!

The former Food and Drug Administration commissioner said Sunday "more and more evidence" indicates COVID-19 vaccines are also "preventing transmission of infection."
Interviewed about the pandemic and coronavirus vaccines, Dr. Scott Gottlieb told CBS's “Face the Nation” he would have no problems receiving Johnson & Johnson's new vaccine.
"I think this is a good vaccine," Gottlieb said. "They'll ship about four million doses this week. The vaccine was very effective at preventing severe disease, 85 percent effective at preventing severe and critical disease."
Gottlieb then said the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was 74 percent effective in "preventing asymptomatic infection," calling it a "suggestion that it is preventing transmission as well."
