A different tune that matched another common tune for a Christmas song I think. I'd have to ask my wife what the tune was.gcdonner wrote:Strange in what way?Soloist wrote:I honestly don't even know who's playing and I could care less.
Church today was nice, although we sung a strange version of "how firm a foundation"

I usually prefer the tunes I'm familiar with for hymns, but sometimes alternate tunes work too. I'm curious if you can tell us, what the other tune was.Soloist wrote: A different tune that matched another common tune for a Christmas song I think. I'd have to ask my wife what the tune was.

My guess is Adeste Fideles. That's the first tune I remember hearing for that song. So I looked it up in an old hymnal I have from growing up. And you are correct- it is Adeste Fideles- otherwise known as O come all ye faithful. The hymn with both tunes and they are right next to each other. Never heard it sung to Adeste Fideles. Thinking I prefer the familiar tune but one thing about singing it to another tune- you pay a bit more attention to the words. My guess is Adeste Fideles. That's the first tune I remember hearing for that song. From the Church Hymnal.

Had an unexpected treat such a blessing. Went to deliver some donuts we made to our son and family. We've only seen them outside and that not very often since early January and when we got there they let us come in and visit. So enjoyed just visiting and seeing the grandchildren. Best Valentine's gift I could have.

i’m fighting tears often these days. who isn’t suffering in some way? it’s painful to think about how all are affected.
the children most of all. how will this impact their “world views” in the long run?
truth is, i don’t believe anyone knows. but there will be a price.
