It was not removed, merely moved to Politics Bunny Trails. I've now re-moved it to non-Politics Bunny Trails. While whining about "The Media" is not politics per se, "The Media" treats protesting as political subject matter, so it's only one step removed. Not entirely out of bounds, but on thinner ice than Dirk Willems. Continued discussion of the subject is not likely to be profitable.
“Politics Bunny Trails” is not visible? is it an actual thread? (no. part of 40 day archives.) ?

i’m glad these posts remain visible. thank you. you are correct, my intent was not politics.
my thinking was/is, if folks became more alert to media fomenting, many topics might be RESCUED FROM politics, and put back into realms they belong: esp families and churches!

in my view, the public has made a grave error in allowing so much of life, possibly all of life, to be hijacked by partisan politics. (notice: NOT a reference to any side.)

a news-mimicking product is produced that people “like.” it’s seductive.

i like cheesecake.
altho i would like to eat it everyday, by self-restraint, i RARELY indulge.

I have little pity for the heathcare industry that makes massive amounts of money and often overpays their staff while building and renovating millions of dollars of facilities just to convince the rich to go there. There is still a massive amount of deaths each year from healthcare mistakes. Doctors and self important nurses are not God. I will not worship them, but challenge them. I have found many lacking.

Yes, this is all because of capitalism, but the other side is they have to accept the fall when it happens. One can not gain the benefits of the good times and just ignore the struggles of the bad times. Only banks get to do that now.

I suppose you seek out hospitals with old and obsolete facilities and that that underpay their staff?

If someone does have evidence (not hearsay) of a falsified cause of death, please contact jahertz. He has been looking for documentation, or someone he can discuss this with firsthand, for six months or so. Last I heard, he has not yet been able to track down a single verified source.

If you want to follow the money, look no further than the insurance industry. Last time I looked, they just moved money around, and took a rather hefty cut to do it.

I look for medical staff that are open and honest about what they know and do not know. I look for cleanliness, order, and respect of humanity. That does not cost more in fancy hospitals or nursing centers.

Doctors and nurses are just humans. Most are doing their best, but the human body and what interacts with it are very complex and only ignorant people claim they know it well.

I respect medical personal that trust the patient as much as the patient is to trust them. Those that talk down and act like they are demigods, I move on to easily find someone better.

Off topic, so I will carry this no further, but this is why I am not so blinded by medical personnel.

https://mymedicalscore.com/medical-error-statistics/
Medical billing errors cost Americans $210,000,000,000 annually.
Roughly 12,000,000 Americans are misdiagnosed each year.
Medical errors cause an estimated 250,000 deaths in the United States annually.
As many as 80 percent of medical bills contain at least one error.
A little more than 4,000 surgical errors occur each year.
It’s estimated that 7,000 to 9,000 patients die every year from medication errors.
Some studies indicate that death from medical errors could be even higher due to the way medical errors are reported on death certificates—with as many as 440,000 people dying every year from medical errors. The number of deaths caused by medical errors is far too high.

I was being overly snide, but my point was it isn't just the rich who seek nice hospitals with top rated doctors and staff. Pretty much EVERYONE does that. Including, I suspect, most people here, at least subconsciously. People judge hospitals by the appearance and technology and they online ratings and such to seek out the mostly highly rated doctors and facilities. My wife will tell you that it is often the indigent Medicaid patients who are most demanding and fussy. Rich has nothing to do with it.

That is the reality with our for-profit based system of private medicine. That is what you get when you combine capitalism and medicine. Hospitals and clinics are forced to compete and they do that based on facilities and technology. Maybe not in smaller towns with just one facility, but certainly in larger towns and cities. When we lived in Waco, one hospital there built a brand new hospital in a newer part of town with all the bells and whistles and lots of upscale amenities. They got a giant uptick in volume as a result and the other hospital was forced to do a complete top to bottom remodel and build a glassy brand new wing to keep pace. It is an arm's race. Hundreds of millions of dollars spent to keep up with the Joneses because that is what customers want and expect. Here in the Vancouver area there are new clinics going up all over the place, each with fancier facilities than the last.

This just went in last month a few minutes from my house: https://www.columbian.com/news/2020/nov ... th-clinic/ Note what they are marketing, none of which really has to do with quality of care:
The Camas location has a high-tech patient experience, Mantei said. Patients use a phone-scanning system to check in, and vitals are uploaded over Bluetooth into computers, which should streamline the process and prevent errors, Mantei said.

The location also has a focus on patient privacy. Exam rooms have private hallway entrances, and patients will be weighed in exam rooms instead of a common area.
There are a lot of alternative models around the world, like the British National Health Service where everything is socialized. Some people prefer that model.

Those aren't "medical billing errors" That is just outright fraud. It it was just random "error then the over-charges would be balanced out by under-charges and the net cost to Americans would be $0 and not $210 billion. That is systematic and fraudulent overcharging. There is no "error" involved at all.

I think some people are far too close to this situation to fairly evaluate medical system which has just critiques of it.

Covid death being linked to money on the other hand... I have no opinion different then JM due to lack of knowledge.
