This forum has many nice features and some we can opt to have or not (i.e. manage foes when you don't care to read any of their posts).
I would like the ability in my personal preferences to have the home menu come up with all the categories except for those I have stated 'no thanks' in a home page access list I can maintain.
Personally I find the 'Politics' section to be one I don't care to see and be enticed to read. To be able to filter this out as if it did not exist would be nice.

Re: New MennoNet Filter
You could build a RSS feed with direct links to each forum but otherwise I don't think I've ever seen a forum that does that. The other option is to make politics a specific member class category which would increase mod work to assign you to the "special" class. It would kind of be nice to have normalized stuff but this is an election year.

Well, the argument with immodest dress is usually, "It's your fault if you look and lust," so, maybe that same principle works here as well?Sudsy wrote:This forum has many nice features and some we can opt to have or not (i.e. manage foes when you don't care to read any of their posts).

It's a lot less work than producing quality material.Soloist wrote:You have been snarky latelymike wrote:

Re: New MennoNet Filter
I suppose we could use that same argument also for other computer filters some Christians use to not make porn or other things an enticement or even have a 'foe feature here . Others might make the argument that we try to avoid what we can to not make a brother fall into sinning. Personally some topics, more than others, tempt me to sin.mike wrote:Well, the argument with immodest dress is usually, "It's your fault if you look and lust," so, maybe that same principle works here as well?Sudsy wrote:This forum has many nice features and some we can opt to have or not (i.e. manage foes when you don't care to read any of their posts).

Anyway, it is just a suggested option.

Re: New MennoNet Filter
I just stay away from the Politics forum. And I don't bother with Current Events much, either. They're basically the same these days.
If there's a sub-forum you always start with, just save it as your favorite. Then you could avoid the rest of the board if so desired.

Re: New MennoNet Filter
I could work on setting up a new group that can not see the Politics Thread. I did this once before with the private CM groups years ago. It might take a little work though. If it is that important to some, I would see what I could do.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

Re: New MennoNet Filter
that would be easier then my suggestion. Looking back through, there is rarely something interesting to Anabaptist posted but otherwise its just repeating the same partisan arguments... Split the forum
"Politics" and "politics that actually apply to anabaptists"

Re: New MennoNet Filter
I am confused, why wouldn't those who don't care for the "political thread", just refrain from looking at it.
