why do you say that?
My attempt at being facetious. Hopefully, i’ll hold up awhile longer. :)

After a few very quiet years these-2 had, working and finishing school, being completely non-committal about every part of their lives and plans .. there has been a whirlwind of big change since she finished school, end of May. marriage-without-notice, fear of not finding a job, jobs, moving, renting, driving cross country 3 times in 3 months, long-term dog-sitting commitment, car blowing up/new car .. my visit ..

They needed chairs for a kitchen table, we were driving along, my son pulled over in front of a pretty country house .. with a for sale sign .. with a pending sign ..

When did they find time to look at houses?! - They’re closing Oct 23.

What more in 2020??

Snow removal and mowing 2.5 acres will (probably) slow them down.

Children went swimming in the ocean waves and played on beach and explored tide pools yesterday.

Leaving in an hour for the airport. Have another funeral to attend tomorrow; a colleague who was 89 (non-COVID death). If it seems I’ve disappeared, I haven’t. Unless the angels take me then I have.

Yesterday in church my smart phone embarrassed me. The pastor was preaching on Jonah, and Google voice, on my phone tucked away in my purse on the floor, decided she'd help him out with a little background information on Nineveh, with which she loudly interrupted. Not that the pastor paid her any attention. All this while the phone was set on DO NOT DISTURB. I should have read her the riot act when we got out to the car, on women keeping silence in the church. (DOES that apply to disembodied female voices??) :D

Got a doctor apointment today.Just routine stuff. They called to make sure I was not sick before I came. After confirming I had no symptoms, I said, "So, if I am sick I can't come to the doctor?" There was silence for about 5 seconds, then they said, "We will see you tomorrow morning. Goodbye."

Yes, I will be asking my doctor this same question. I am a new patient and I want them to know what they will be dealing with long term.

Probably Covid protocols.

If you are possibly Covid-positive they will meet you with a higher level of PPE and isolate you from other patients in the waiting room and such. At my wife's clinic if you are possibly sick with Covid they make you enter through a different back door and wait in an isolation room until the nurse meets you with full PPE gear. If you are not thought to have covid they scan your temperature at the front door and you just sit in the waiting room with other patients (masked, socially distanced) until your turn.

It's not that they don't want you to come in if you are sick. It's that they need to do extra preparation to accommodate possible Covid patients. And depending on how sick you are, they might send you straight to the ER or hospital, not a clinic where they may not have the means to accommodate and treat you.
