What would you consider "liberal"?

Time to liven this place up a bit. Did a similar poll over a year ago:

What would you consider to be "liberal" or "progressive"?

Oh my !!! That driver got his truck front, out to far. But Fortunately I highly doubt the driver of the truck was injured.

None of the above.

Being generous is liberal.

Being broad-minded; willing to consider other ways and ideas is liberal.

Yet it the conservative element in this nation that gives more generously

There are many conservative people who are liberal in their generosity.

In our local community, when there is a tragedy, or property damage, who are the people who show up in droves to help? It is the conservative element of the Anabaptist community. Several years back a local couple had a huge fire. The couple was not Anabaptist and the husband was a very vile man. But who showed up to help with the clean up? The local Amish and horse and buggy Mennonite men, all considered very conservative. These men and the women, who prepared the meal, were very conservative, but liberal in their generosity.

I have (or have had), do (or have done) almost all 10 of those things in the poll and consider myself quite conservative. Those are all mostly culture specific signaling that have no meaning outside of anabaptists.

Perhaps you are a “political conservative”; these people are easily identified since their children and grandchildren tend to become political liberals.

I'm a bit surprised, and yet not surprised, at the poll results so far.

The women/pants thing can be debated on various levels, and has been discussed a few times here on the board.

TV in the home almost isn't a thing anymore. If there is web service, you basically have access to TV. Unless there are good filters in place. Again could be debated.

The red car, red dress thing makes me laugh at times.

The red dress thing makes me smile as well. In my Grandmother's day, women positively did not wear red. It was considered the "harlot's color". I do know some women who avoid red, not because it being the "harlot's color", but because red has a tendency to accentuate the weight of a woman. In other words wearing red makes women "look fat".

As for a red car. I have a friend who had a red car for a period of time, and it seemed to be a "cop magnet". She got another car that was a more benign color, and the police stops stopped. But that may also have been because she took some lead out of her foot and slowed her speeds down some.
