The raise in number of cases and the continual drop in number of deaths point to two things.

One, we are getting better at treatments, as expected.

Two, younger people are contracting it which it is far less lethal. The more younger people who get it, are basically asymptomatic, and get over it become immune and build the herd immunity. That with the coming vaccines will mean this will end early in 2021 as far as a pandemic. This, too, shall pass. Science will slowly catch up and we will find out what we did right and what we did wrong.

It's hard to really make predictions about this virus. But I take the same view as your last two sentences.

Although the virus will do nothing in particular because of the election, the passing of the election will take care of some of the associated political garbage. Democrats are politically motivated to play up the virus as a tool to attack the president, as well as Republicans who are in power down at the state and local levels, and the president and his party is motivated to spin it as well. It's so stupid and frustrating. The sad part is that the election will not end the political nonsense anyway. If Trump wins, we'll have another four years of doom and gloom from the Democrats and the media. If he loses, Republicans will be the foot-dragging committee again.

Unless the Democrats win house, senate and presidency. Look to elimination of the filibuster, 2 more states (DC and PR) and 3 more supreme court justices. Mitch will have brought that on himself.

Then a major defeat int he midterms for playing politics to stack the court and Senate. The Senate should have the ability to enlarge the court, but statehood has to be approved by more, I do believe.

Nope, just an act of Congress. And enlarging the court is an act of congress.

Then they’ll have 4 seats to flip, in addition to the others. Game over.

Correct.
US Constitution wrote:Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1:

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.[4]

Yes, an act of Congress is more than just the Senate. Both legislative bodies need to pass it. So I was right.

Again, if they do take the Senate and do this, there will be a massive revolt in the midterms two years later. Independents do not want either of these things done and will vote with Republicans to remove many who do it. Short term win for a long term loss.

Not after they make all of the dreamers citizens, which you could grant immediately. Pass a voting right acts that eliminate state exclusions to voting for any reason except current incarceration. Overturn Citizens United by passing a law that the newly packed court will approve. Make it easy to register and vote. All of these things can be done with by law. Face it, a demographic tsunami is just outside of the harbor. Ayn Rand is headed for the dustbin of history. And you can thank ole Mitch for this.

Puerto Rican statehood is not a foregone conclusion. There is plenty of opposition from Puerto Ricans, both stateside and on the island. Republicans need not despair either way, there is a healthy PR Republican party. The Puertoriquenos I know best are heavy Republican.

After Trump, on the island, not so much. He did a wonderful job on them after Maria.
