This is good: https://canbyfirst.com/all-volunteer-re ... ghborhood/

https://democratherald.com/news/local/v ... op-story-1

These rural communities are hurting and are helping each other. I was thinking how they lash out at a perceived enemy and threat in Antifa, and I think if we could roll the calendar back to Sept 2001-2002, we’d be “seeing” Muslims in the woods lighting fires, instead of Antifa. Blame that enemy...
But it is truly amazing to see all the outpouring of help these same rural communities are doing and giving! Small towns from all over rural Oregon are sending goods to the hard hit communities. So many stories of people and businesses giving. Inspiring! This state is much more than simply a hatchery for far left ideas. Far more than just Portland and Eugene.

Sounds like all the people I know whose homes were in danger, those homes are pretty much out of imminent danger now. Thank God.
Thanks to the weather and the community.

The smoke is amazing. I read that they can’t get a good read anymore on the size of the fires because now all the smoke hides it from above.
Madras is where my church is - https://www.bendbulletin.com/localstate ... c6afa.html
This is the prison we’ve been working at getting vetted to volunteer at - https://www.bendbulletin.com/localstate ... c5b3d.html little did these prisoners know that the air quality is worse outside that inside.

Yes. Here in Clark County WA (Vancouver area) there are thousands of evacuated horses and other farm animals from the evacuation zones in Clackamas County being sheltered on local farms. I have a good friend who has a farm in the Wilsonville area. She is sheltering animals and just posted on Facebook that she had surplus hay available and people in need were just coming to take what they needed, no more. Without supervision. It is inspiring.

Over here our air isn't any better than yours. It was 604 last night and right now the reading in Camas says 511 on the AQI. It is nasty. And the local weather tonight said we might not get marked improvement until Thursday.

Now this seems to be a bit more antifa-ish to me:
- near large city named Portland. Check.
- along a freeway. Check.
- lit with Molotov cocktail. Check.
- late to the whole wildfire party. Check.
- fire is quickly controlled. Check.
- suspect quickly apprehended. Check.
- mainstream media reports on it instead of only FB rumors. Check.
- the attempt failed do to poor planning and execution. Check.
- admitted it when arrested. Check.

Complete rookie type operation, whereas a both a redneck type, and a traditional arsonist, would have had more success because they Would have thought a bet more, and might have done it when wind and temperatures were than they were on Sunday, and chosen a better target than along a freeway where it would quickly be spotted and extinguished.

I’m not saying it was Antifa, (nor is Fox News) just saying that to me, this is more what I would expect from them. https://www.foxnews.com/us/portland-cop ... v-cocktail

Antifa/BLM have a long history of arson. If there are unexpected raging forest fires, it seems wise to suspect people who already have a platform of using arson for their own political ends.

It’s interesting that Facebook and others are suppressing any discussion that antifa/BLM engage in arson, as if there’s some other explanation of how Minneapolis burned down.

Has FB and news organizations and law enforcement made public statements that the urban rioters and arsonists are not Antifa? As they had to with the rural wildfires?

There is no such thing as Antifa/BLM. They are not the same thing at all. That’s like saying Mormon/Mennonite.

And to say that BLM has a long history of arson is as accurate as saying that say...Conservative Mennonites have a long history of child sexual abuse and that it “seems wise” to keep a close eye CA churches and church leaders because they have a long history of using their positions to protect and enable child abusers.

I trust the FBI and local fire investigators to actually know what they are doing and I expect they know more about arson in Oregon than you do from your keyboard in Ohio.

To be fair, our "wives" get mistaken as Mormons sometimes... and I'm sure you would agree that some BLM might be antifa and some Trump supporters might be fascists...

Also I'm sure you would agree that some CM's do have a problem with sexual abuse like any religious or secular group... and maybe you won't agree here, but some FBI and local fire investigators don't always state the truth for a number of reasons.

The two organisations seem to work hand in hand.

Seems reasonable to me, and in fact, many of us are trying to forge closer links to appropriate law enforcement for this very reason.

Well, people keep setting fires in Minneapolis, Oregon, and other places. It seems reasonable to ask questions about why there is so much arson this year compared to past years.

No, they really don't. The vast majority of BLM protests across the country were daytime protests with no ANTIFA elements anywhere. Probably more than 99% of them. Some of the nighttime protests have drawn other unsavory elements like flies to honey who have the intent of hijacking the protests to push their own agenda, or simply an agenda of chaos. Various anarchist elements have been doing this for years long before BLM even existed. They did it at the WTO protests over a decade ago. They did it with the occupy Wall Street protests of a few years ago. They did it recently in Portland with protests by immigration activists against ICE. It is their playbook. Every time there is some legitimate protest they show up to cause chaos. And honestly it really isn't ANTIFA at all. It is other types of violent anarchists. ANTFA mostly searches out extreme right wing protests so they can stage counter-protests and brawl. And vice versa. If anyone is setting fires it's the anarchist types and also some right wing agitators who are trying to stir up racial trouble. Some of those arrested in Minneapolis and Washington DC for arson turned out to be violent white supremacists trying to create trouble.

The biggest thing that BLM could do to avoid this sort of thing would be to stick with daytime protests. They actually know this which is why the big protests and big marches are usually daytime, and are almost always peaceful. But there really isn't any organized leadership. Anyone can show up anywhere at any time and start their own protest and call it BLM which is the problem.

Is there? Are you keeping track of arson statistics? is there really more arson this year than average? Or is it just in the news more this year? I don't really know.

Usually when someone gets caught committing arson around here it is some mentally unstable homeless firebug type who is just doing it to be anti-social or for the thrill. Not for anything political.

Like for example this guy who was arrested 6 times for suspect arson including today: https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/202 ... i-205.html

And this local meth head who was arrested for starting one of the fires in southern Oregon: https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/2020/0 ... -fire.html
